Hello Everybody,

A few years ago when I imported my 2000 Race Base to Canada I quickly learned the transmission was very, very unhappy. I found a shop to do a full rebuild. After a month they contacted me and said that they had the wrong parts. They said that the parts they had were for a regular 2000 CTR and not for a Race Base. They showed me some information from the parts supplier that showed that there were different parts numbers for a regular CTR and a Race Base so I didn't question the rebuilder. However, today, when I was chatting with another user on a different website they said that all 2000 CTRs had the same transmission, and anything different, such as the straight cut gears were modifications. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hello Vishal,

That would be great. My VIN is: Ek9-1203666. Much appreciated.

The gearboxes are the same. each gear, synchro. bearings and main and counter shafts both share the same part number with a 2000 equivalent gearbox from a full fat ek9

Straight cut gears was never an option from factory on these cars

Hello Vishal,

Thank you very much for your help. Another gentlemen on the other site I mentioned basically said the same thing, but I wanted to check with this site because of the vast experience this community has with this vehicle. I wonder what the heck the rebuilder of my transmission was going on about then. Oh, well.

Have a great day.

Andrew

Yeah I can also confirm the gearboxes are identical. Race base differences were mostly visual, no tinted glass, no recaros, steel wheels etc etc.
and personally with all my experience of working in the aftermarket parts trade, ive never seen a supplier list an ek9 race base as a seperate model.
