Race car brake setup.

I'm overhauling my braking system, I'm removing the abs, running lines inside the car and bias valve etc.

My question is do you guys use the brake servo? Or do you remove it and run an non assisted system?

If yes I'd imagine you will need to brace the master cylinder? And do you need to change the master cylinder to a larger bore?
 
Personally I would keep the servo assist, the brakes will need a lot more force to stop the car without the servo

If the servo was replaced with the correct size master cylinder then it wouldn't be as bad, some say that there is more feel to the brakes without the servo but for me, removing the ABS, fitting braided lines and good pads/discs is plenty

I have recently fitted a pair of Wilwood midilite calipers and hope to test them this weekend.

Will keep the servo.
I'm running standard discs with project mu 800 pads, 282mm calipers with hbp brake fluid.
I've also got hel braided hoses.

Main thing I wanted to clear up was the servo. Thanks man!
 
I still run a servo. If I was to delete it id be running a pedal box instead of the standard pedals.
Seriously going racecar with this now aye! Good stuff

I wouldn't do this, that booter has a total area of about 90 sq.in and there's about 10psi of pressure on it on overrun, so it's adding around 900lbs force to the master cylinder. You will not be replacing that with two feet, let alone one.

To do it properly you need much smaller master cylinders in a pedal box, with a much higher pedal ratio.

I know, just commenting in case other people are considering this idea.

If anyone wants some idea of how hard it is to stop the car with no booster, try having your car towed by a mate and the bring it to a halt with the engine switched off. Not fun!

Haha yes have done that before!
But I understand what you're saying. You'd have to completely go all out and run a pedal box etc to remove the servo.
 
Its like rubbing a buttered piece of cheese against a spinning plate ;-)
