Hi fellas, looking at getting an EK4 but having difficulties finding a standard one that's not rusted to buggery.

What's a realistic price point for a standard EK4 on half decent mileage?

Apologies if it's been asked before

1500. These cars are getting old now, but people will still try to flog them for 2500+

Unless it's something really special I wouldn't pay more than 1500.

I paid A brave bit more than 1500 for my ek4 but it had a few mods.
I'd say a tidy one in n.i around 2000imo. Not sure about over where u are tho bud

It would have to be low miles (sub 100k) and VERY clean to warrent 2k for a ek4 for me.

Picked up a tidy "DAP" with 110k on a P reg for £1450 last month.

It all depends how much u want one realy. Patience is the way to go

Is Your ej9 a late clean and low miles example? 1k is strong money for an ej9.

Clover Green Pearl, can be reverted to completely standard. Had MOT 2 weeks ago, no advisories. Cam belt will be getting done next week.
No rust anywhere I can see. All electrics work. Sun roof doesn't leak.
Haven't found any water in the boot as I've heard it's a common problem?
just under 74k miles.

new plates put on, starts first time, every time.

Interior is all there. No fag marks.

Year 2000 EJ9. I have all documentation for it :)

sounds like a sale ad haha.

I was happy paying the money I paid for mine because I know the car and there isn't anything it needs etc (apart from modifying more lol)
Must all depends how good of one you want.
Mileage doesn't really put me off if I know it's been looked after.
I would rather have 110,000 miles with service every year (providing body work is good obviously) than one with 70,000 with no service history etc

All depends if its a UK Vti/Jap SiR!
Considerable difference in price!
Facelift ek9's are going for roughly 5.5-6k(depending on condition)
working from that a good vti would go for maybe 3k
a good SiR would go for around 4-4.5k!

Thats just my opinion anyway!
At the end of the day its worth what someone is willing to pay you!
Some people will pay considerably more than others

Just looking for a standard EK4 :)
Doesn't need to be fancy, and preferably standard.

This thread is a bit pointless IMO,
To many variables to consider,

What something is actually worth and what people want for things is a completely different story,

Location plays a big part in it, so does people's idea of rust free example,

You just have to decide what you want to spend and look at a few with in your budget untill you find a car your happy with

If your ej9 is good as you say then drop a b16 in that:nice:

Was looking at a nitrous B16 pal. Could get one done for about 2 grand.
It's just, getting an EK4, things like bigger brakes, roll bars etc (generally, a bigger spec car) I'd have a better base to work off of. No disrespect to EJ9's, they're brilliant cars.

I just have to think about insurance as well.
A rust free example for me would be one where bits aren't falling off, or big patches are rusted through. If parts are only starting to bubble, I could get that sorted.

In essence, what I really want from an EK4 would be the engine, underpinnings i.e brakes, arb's, tranny etc.

Makes sense to me as it would have to be my daily. Having it come from factory with all the goodies would be ideal.

I'd happily lay down more money, as a budget to me is determined by quality if that makes sense.

2-2.5k for a tidy EK4 is reasonable for me.

lol, abbreviation for color. Thanks.

You speak as if colour isn't frequently abbreviated in this game JT lol (CW, SSB etc)

OP. Just hold out and be patient for the right car for you.

if your patient enough and willing to spend up to 2.5K you will end up with a good example :nice:
