Ive just had my front tracking done and the bloke from the tyre shop, said that my rear (RHD) wheel is toeing in by 10 degrees. How do I fix this and how easy is it to do.

Thanks

That is alot! the rear trailing arm has a bracket at the front of it past the RTA bush that mounts to the frame. that may be bent. the bolt that mounts to the chassis has some adjustment on it but not sure it would be enough.

that has an aftermarket toe arm fitted. the oem is just a straight piece

10 degrees ???!!!?!?!

no amount of tracking adjustment will fix that. Something must be severely bent to get that far out.

If this was at a shop with just basic front toe lazer kits with mirrors etc. I would go get a proper 4 wheel alignment check before jumping to any conclusions. Then "if" you do infact have 10' toe I would pinpoint what is bent and replace it first. Stock adjustment range is around 1-2deg at most.

Mine was 1 degree out and the trailing arm was bent in about 20mm at the rear. So 10 degrees should look like a banana!

As above, not getting 10 degrees on 1 wheel.
I'd be surprised if you managed 10 total(across both rear wheels)
It would be noticeably facing inwards if that was the case.

I know 10 deg is a lot but he showed me the result by putting the tracking kit on backwards, the light was miles off, the passenger side was ok. Looking at the wheel from above it does look pushed in ? I took it out for a drive and its crabbing when the steering wheel is on head. The tyre shoulder is going as well.

Thanks for all the info

I'm sure his equipment wouldn't even read to 10degrees.
If it's crabbing and the wheel is noticeable forced inward at the front then you got some serious structural issue.
How long you had the car?

I have just looked under the car and yes the toe arm looks bent, its also has no adjustment left in it, its right over into the body work, if you see what I mean. on the other side there is a gap on each side of the toe arm bolt. So yes the prev owner must have hit something. I did notice that one of the front wheels look a bit more damaged than the rest, kerbing ?

Thanks for the pics, they were of great help

Thanks

Its the rear wheel, passenger side thats pushed in, Ive had the car 4 year, Ive only done 3k in it. It went for the mot last year and the bloke show me the wear on the tyre, "next you will have to replace them" So this year I did and Im in a world of toeing & tracking !

thanks Will do

Yeh no way it would of read 10 degrees!
Unless something is seriously not right.
I'd get someone to have a good look at that wheel man.

I phoned the prev owner just a sec ago and they came clean, she was on some ice and went around a corner and lost control of the car, the drivers side rear wheel hit the kerb flat on, so yes there must be some thing bent underneath, and reading all the comments 10 degs is a lot but as it was a basic light tracking kit I dont think its that accurate, so something is wrong.

So watch this space and I will keep you informed, it may take some time as Im back in 3 /4 weeks time. WORK !

I reckon you want a complete new trailing arm for starters, but if it really is 10deg out I would rule out needing the back end straightening on a jig!

Sorry for not getting back sooner, both side of the rear end rebuild, the toe arm was bent, and the trailing arm wasnt in a good way so both side were rebuild. All ok now. THX
