hi there my car is about to have a spoon stroker kit fitted but now i have read into this a bit more just wonderin how important it is to have it bored out and the larger size pistons fitted. thanks

its always important to get the larger pistons so i have been told.

Arite m8..

Ive stroked my engine with the Spoon kit.. I personaly went for the 81.25 pistons as after time it is possible for the cylinder walls of your block to become slightly scored etc, not badly but it is possible..

Before I chose my Stroker etc I done alot of research and spoke to a racing engine developer called AGRA and they highlighted the pros and cons. They said that I was better to get the 81.25mm pistons and have my block bored and honed .25mm to ensure perfect cylinder / piston ring seal.

In extreme cases if your cylinder walls are damaged / scored you may not be able to get an ideal ring seal - which in turn would lead to loss of compression..

Cheers - Andy

get the overbore. if you dont your wrings probably wont seal, you'll have smoke out of the tailpipe and a loss of compression. i have 81.5mm bore on my block, 81.25 is fine :nice:

I agree :p

What else do you need to do once the bottom end has been rebuilt to 1.8 with spoon stroker kit ?

i was thinking of changing the bottom end off my b16a2 to a b18 one should i also re bore the cylinders if i was getting this done.

Just basically after the engine is rebuilt etc all you need is an ITR ECU and lots of patience to break the engine in gently :nice:
