So ya i wanted an s2000 for ages an then some years ago i found out that there a disaster for blowing up thye all explode. I only know one person out of about 9 ppl that his s2000 didnt blow up and i think thats because he barley ever drove it...

I did some reasearch and found that ap2s have a different revamped engine a 2.2 with the same bhp and honda released them as 2litres even tho they are 2.2 litre (aboy honda) haha.

I was wondering basically is there a cure for the engine failure or are the ap2s solid>>?

I heard its too do with an injector fault or oil feed fault and if this is fixed they will be fine.

Has anyone any experience on the matter?

Any info would be great.

( And ya im aware its a hairdressers car lol )

Yeah, I'd stay away from the 99-01 models unless there's proof they have an engine from a newer model.
Most prefacelift models from these years here in Belgium already have a different engine, there's very few left with the original engine.

I think they redesigned the engine in 02 to fix the oil problem, so 02-03 prefacelifts should be fine.

Ours is an 04-05 facelift model, again with a newer engine compared to the 02-03 model.
Now has approx. 90k miles and I never had to top up the oil. I chose this because of the more reliable engine and I also like the newer style bumpers and lights better, also has a glass window in the soft top (prefacelift has a plastic window) and suspension upgrades which makes the car less twitchy, dangerous for inexperienced drivers. If you buy a prefacelift, make sure you get to know and respect the car, as many before you didn't and ended up crashing it.

06 and on have drivebywire and VSA, hence why they are a little more expensive.

AP2 wasn't sold in Europe btw, these were only available in the USA and Japan and have a 2.2 liter engine (F22C).
Here it's prefacelift and facelift, but they're all AP1's with the 2.0 F20C engine.

I had an ap1, after sorting out the seized suspension bushes it was faultless and a complete joy to drive on the road and track.

Hmmm
