Sorry again if this has been covered, on my phone and search doesn't work....
Was thinking about putting the s80 box on my b16b due to the final drive it has,
What are people's thoughts on this? Worth doing?
Any help wod be great
Thank.

It really depends on what sort of driving you will be doing. As far as I am aware the s80 (from the earlier tegs)/s4c gearbox have the same final drive, so I don't think you will gain anything from swapping.

If you go for the later s80 teg box, then it will have the 4.7 final drive. Gives you a bit more acceleration and slightly lower top speed. My personal preference (I think I've got a 4.7fd at the mo), I'm putting the 4.4 fd back in. I do a few motorway/A road miles and the car is revving pretty high. At 80 it's already past 5k rpm. Probably doesn't help with the exhaust I have on at the mo which is pretty loud. Also, mpg will be higher. Again, if you have an exhaust which isn't too loud I'm sure it will be fine. If you do a lot of track days or just town driving I'm sure the 4.7 will serve you well.

Just want it for a little bit better acceleration.
What revs does it sit at, at 70mph with the 4.7?

Fitting the s80 is good for acceleration in 1,2,3 but there is a big jump up to 4th which is very noticeable with the b16. You'll most likely always drop out of vtec going from 3-4.

Unless you're fitting the 4.7 final drive to the s4c, I'd keep the s4c on as the ratios are better compared to the s80 IMO.

Id like to know this aswell as I have a friend and is says it transforms the car extra torque n that he says its worth doing but I aint as sure yet ??
Also I find with the s4c its tricky to get in vtec from 1st 2nd higher up gears are easy, but you gota be quick to catch it n I dont mean slaming in or throwing in I mean you cant realy take your time like a boosted car

only gearbox i have every had a probly with droping out of vtec is an s9b, never heard of the s4c, s80, or even the y21 doing it
