Safetydevices cages, where from?

These still bolt in?
Yep I think so, there seems to be a few variations some have different joints to others not sure which are the new types

The new cages only have the slip over fitting where the top bars from the front meet the hoop

The sidebars have a different style fitting that require welding, they are a great cage and I have had old style OMP, safety devices and cusco over the years.
The new OMP design also bolts through the driver and passenger top seatbelt bolt holes to tie it into the pillar (same as safety devices have always done) and the foot plates are better than the old version

I bought the new OMP cage from balance motorsport

Mind us asking how much you paid?

Thanks for that, have you got any good pictures of it?
Did yours have a fixed diagonal or removable?

Fixed diagonal on mine I will try and find a few pics

I added in a bar at the bottom of the hoop and at the rear struts which I use as a harness bar

Not seeing a decent ek shape cage from omp.
Only 6 point from what I can see,
Unless you can spec a 10point?

@SPek9 is yours a dc2 cage or was your old ek cage omp?

Perhaps @DV8 and @stevenEK9 can chime in as they've both had the safety devices in ek9's as well (Google image research):blinx:

Most bolt in cages are 6 point as they mount at.....

2 points for the front legs
2 points for the B pillar loop
2 points for the rear legs

the safety device cages are a brilliant piece of kit, comes with all the reinforcement plates which you need to weld in etc

the 'standard' 6 point cage they offer is as follows, comes with single door bars and a single diagonal

not ideal that you have to run the harnesses on the floor, so I had a replacement rear cage made up by safety devices which was spec'd with additional diagonal + harness bars

fitted up to the original front section

even run one of their cages in my M3, again one of the most comprehensive off the shelf cages which fits brilliantly

the civic cage(s) I bought through 'gorallyschool', this was years ago so pricing won't be accurate - give them a call :)

Ahh nice one Steve.
I'll have a look.

Thanks for that info Steven, will look in to this gorallyschool place

Found them on Corby motorsport aswell.
Well there goes another few weeks wages lol
Messaged Corby this morning before starting the thread, will report back when I get a reply

My Ek9 had the safety devices rear half cage, my last ek had the old style OMP cage and my DC2 now has the new version OMP cage

Safety devices are a great cage and if money was no concern its nice to buy a cage already powder coated and requires so welding of the side bar mounts etc

The new OMP cage is just as good, same steel and its approved with everything you need and its not far off half the price of a safety devices cage

Here are a few pics when I was fitting my DC2 OMP cage before the side bars, harness bar etc were welded in

@SPek9 can you just cut a bit off the front cage and move it back a little to dodge the dash?
Cba to cut up my dash if I go for a full cage

You could do that yes but seeing that a cage is for safety I dont see the point as the cage should protect you better when its further forward and close to the A pillar

I can only find "FE45" omp cages for ek they seem to have a mixture of 40 and 50 mm tubes

Can any one explain the pros cons and differences between the different grades of material (fe45 te45 and cds)

Fe45 is the same as t45 and they are the lightweight cages compared to CDS

Got a message back from Corby motor sports regarding safety devices rear cage
Hi

Build time will depend upon when you order. At the moment we can still
supply cages mid Jan 2015, midweek that will close and delivery would be
end of January. After Autosport, the lead time will be much greater than
it is now as everybody will want to build a race car after the show!

Add £144.00 to the website price for cross diagonal and harness bar (would
need to ring to order in that configuration)>

Regards

Mike

So that works out at about £525 with cross diagonal with harness bars

The safety devices cage msa approved? Assume not?
What about the omp cage?
