Safetydevices cages, where from?

That's not at all a bad price considering it's already powder coated tbh! No half cage will ever be MSA approved I don't think, it says on their website that it is not homologated....

I'm not sure I like how the OMP cage does not seem to follow the contour of the B-Pillar. Also, I really want a cross and harness bars. And once you factor in the cost and hassle of painting it.... The SD seems like a really good package! I wonder if you can spec the colour or if it is the case of "you can have it in any colour you like as long as it's black"

The safety devices cage msa approved? Assume not?
What about the omp cage?

Doubt the omp actually is even in full cage form, I read somewhere that some of the tubes are 40 mm and only 2mm thick. However that may be the old type
Omp needs a harness bar welding in also and only comes with single diagional

The sd cage is not homologised as a half cage but when combined with the correct front cage it will meet msa/fia regulations for some motor sports afaik
I've seen some pretty basic cages used in sprint cars in the past.

That's my thoughts exactly regarding the additional bars

Pretty sure you can spec the colour for a slight extra cost

That's a good find! I actually really don't like the fact the full cage avoids the dash, there's not much left of my dash anyway so I'd rather drill a couple holes in it and have the cage as far from my face as possible.... That's what's mainly driving me towards the half cage...

I'm sure you could request a non dash dodging front section if you wanted to add it at a later date, sd do a weld in cage as well so they probably have the measurements for a longer front section if you requested it

Yeah sorry I meant the whole cage with the approval thing.
I'm in the same boat really, nottoo fussed about my dash having holes for the cage.

Ordered my cage today from chris berkbeck rally sport (formally go rally school)
£337+vat +40 delivery.

Worked out about £75 cheaper than Corby and £60 cheaper than area Motorsport,

@oifovo @jesse888

Thanks for the heads up.
That's just the rear section right?
I'd want the whole cage personally but that's a decent enough price.

Yep that's rear cage, x diagonal with harness bar, and brackets for fitting single door bars.

I may get the front section and door bars at a later date as it can be bought on its own anyway

Ah well that makes it abit more affordable doing it in two halves.
Although probably cost more in the long run.
Will defo keep these in mind. Assuming engine build goes well I should be able to afford one in afew months

Yeah will have to pay twice for delivery if buying separate, but I can live with that,

Hope to have it by mid to late January

Thanks for this, I sent an email to SW but never heard back from them... I'm going to send an email to berkbeck and see if they could knock up an extended front section that would go through the dash rather than dodging it. That's a very good price tho!

nice one, Tim (DV8 on here) went the same route with fitting the half cage with optional bars included too - he's yet to fit the front section though

as long as the reinforcement plates are welded inside the car and not placed on the underside, it carries MSA homologation

Yep they will be welded in:nice:

I'm wasn't really bothered about it being homologated as its just for a bit of extra safety/ stiffness in the odd track day, but it's handy that it can be homologated as you never know what the future holds

at least the welding on the EK9 cage isn't too bad - was a bit of a pig for the M3, took ages!!!

Yeah I bet, looks like a nice bit of kit though with that strut to floor rear section,

Good Purchase on the cage. Mine is a OMP 6 point bolt in however i dont use the front section.

I also have an additional harness bar welded into it.
