SPOON ECU vs STANDARD **** RESULTS****

Nice thread Ash.

So in summary the Honda ECU makes more power than the spoon peak. :secret:

...Marginally but the spoon brings more midrange gains especially with the lower vtec crossover point.

This is a great read.
Thanks for taking the time to look into this, gather the data, spend the dyno time/money and the excellent write-up.

have in mind mind every car is diffrent and depend on your mods also just because it doesn,t work for ashy doen,t mean it wount work for everyone else i have seen massive gain from other people .

Given, everyone's civic's are going to be different from each other, oil, gas, plugs, wires etc...

...where are the write ups to support massive gains? :)
This is the only write-up I have seen and supports what I have heard from others about the Spoon ECU.

I would love to see other people compare the two, most dyno places do four runs for your money, i was lucky enough to do 6 on the day, 2 power runs and a fuel run.

As for the mods, yes most peoples mods are different but how much difference will there be between what we do, I/H/E pretty much all similar, the biggest factors will probs be the dyno!

PLUS what was the spoon ecu mapped for? What mods etc? Custom map will always be the way!

These runs were done on the same dyno on the same day within the same hour, with out the car moving out the rollers, not two months apart at different dynos, where other factors such as, air pressure, air tempreture, tyre pressures, alignment of wheels, tightness of ratching the car in place, dyno control, type of dyno, the way the dyno is calibrated etc. There are countless factors that affect the outcome!

this is my graph on a spoon ecu with b18c engine

I have imported my ek9 a few months ago from Japan and did not knew that it came with a Spoon Ecu
i only realized that when i was busy pulling cables for my amp. Ecu was sealed with Spoon stickers.
After opening it i saw the Spoon chip to be honest i dont know if its better or not cause this is my first time driving a ek9 so i dont know the difference.
Exhaust wize its all stock and while doing the technical check up the Co2 was way to high even with stock catalystor.
i gonna have it retuned with a P28 Ecu so it will be good at the next technical check and then i can also compare the Spoon chip with the Retune by my local tuner.
I'm real curious to see the difference.
