Hi all,

There are both versions available to buy second hand, I can’t choose which one should I get. When the ver 2 was released? Is ver 1 noisier than ver 2? If you guys have any other info too it would be great, thanks in advance. My car is 2000 EK4 hatch.

Hi,

I have bought brand new ver.II when it was released and it was hella expensive back then. As far as I know newer ones have welded logo on the top of the tip and certificate at the bottom with ID number.

here's a pic for reference

Weight and sound is what really amazed me. Sounds incredibly sick at higher rpm's, especially with VTEC, eventually it was designed for that engines. I mean it's pretty loud exhaust but not stupid loud. :D

I've got a v2 on my 87 civic with a b18. Has a silencer in the middle and its very loud. Good though in sound appreciation zones

I actually had both at one point, Could well be age/baffle condition but the V1 had a slightly deeper tone and the V2 had a little more rasp and was marginally louder. Both mated to a spoon 4-1 and spoon b-pipe.

Guess the V2's will always be younger than the V1's and the plaque is nice with the amount of reps on the market now, But I ended up keeping my V1.

Thanks for the info.

I ended up buying gen 2. I love it. Perfect raspy sound. I'll buy the sub silencer for long drives though.

Edit: since this is an intake topic too, I was lucky to find gen 1 direct air flow pipe second hand too. Cheap (china made?) header needs to go at some point.
