Been busy last couple months stripping the civic down, essentially a bare shell now other than a couple panels left on and engine still needs to come out.
Plan is to nut and bolt the whole thing, remove all old undercoating, repair rust etc. but before painting and sealing the underside I’ll attempt to stitch weld the majority of the shell as it’s something I’ve always planned on doing.
Front end as it stands now, only need to remove the wiring and engine.
Front inner arches aren’t looking too bad considering, hopefully no hidden surprises under the flakey underseal…
The rear arches and some hidden areas like where the captive nut for the toe arms is located doesn’t look great but I’ve seen worse. You’ll probably notice the gaping hole to, again not that bad and is the only major rot I have found so far.
Along with disassembling the shell I’ve decided ‘while I’m there’ I might as well refresh everything I can do trailing arms are off, I have a box of bolts, brackets and miscellaneous hardware for zinc and a box of callipers plus other parts from both the civic and e46 for powder coating at some point.
The result should be a clean, fairly decent fast road/track build, stiff and light with a pokey b series.
