I have a 2000 Hatchback only USDM on Paper! lol
I'm planning on going K20, but want more info about the subframes choices?
I really want to keep my EJ's subframe., because I have the Civic Si's LCA's & swaybar. The Si LCA's are double the thickness of a EG's LCA's.
So my real questions are:
Is it worth keeping $$ wise?
Clearance top/ Hood clearance?
Bottom Clearance?
What Motor Mounts either way?
Which Axles & why?
Info about the Exhaust Headers & which to buy? INFO

Which axles - depends on your usage and cost, when I did my swap I did not know about the combination of oem from different cars, Im guessing it would not be up to track abuse anyway, I run DSS 2.9 as it was proven that they could deal with a hard life, not let me down yet.

Not many headers work with abs, not sure on the fitment on your car, again much is down to how much you want to spend, so many to choose from, DC Sports is low down, works ok, as in still makes decent power but has a 2" collector, and the chance of flexi failure is high, if you go custom make sure it is from a proven builder.

I run Hassport EKK2 mounts, the sump does sit low, but some clearance issues under the hood, there is a post in this section with the pictures.

^ Thanks bro, You have the eg/dc subframe? Also does DC2/GSR have thicker supported LCA's like the EK9?...

I have the DC2 subframe, not sure on the thickness issue, I would guess they are the same as EK9, if any parts are inferior I have not noticed any difference handling wise on track. Even losing the small brace (gearbox brace?) to fit the manifold, not sure what it is officially called - zero difference in handling for me anyway.

Only reason that I want to keep my Ek subframe is that I live in Cali..If the CHP pop my hood I would have to take it in for inspection. Which requires me to put my D16Y8 back in.. Because California does not Bar'd legal Kswaps!! I don't want the hassel of swapping Subframes back n' forth..

So anyone here have the EKK1 Kswap here? what complaints do you have? Regrets not going EKK2? I mean I'm not into building a track car. I really dont care for racing, just want the feel & power it has. (my personal playtime). Has anyone cracked you're Oilpan? Had to cut into the Hood for clearance? want feedback please
What half size radiator size must I go with? (I keeping A/C)

Thanks, No Fear great read..

i thought you keep the cross member and just change the LCAs with EKK2.

complete these to get another good guide : Hybrid Racing Epic3 - Hybrid Racing

if you want to make "clean" job with AC and radiator you should use something like those : Hybrid Racing HR Radiators - Hybrid Racing Hybrid Racing HR AC Kits - Hybrid Racing

the normal half size radiator its not direct fit in kswaps.

t.schultz will help you as is the HR vendor

In my experience no one uses the ekk1 mounts as they give a bD and for the axles causing even the dss 2.9 (rated to 475bhp) to break. The engine also with sit higher so you might have to cut your hood. I have ekk2 mounts with a k24 and power steering and i never had to cut anything. Get an eg/dc2 subframe and keep your ek one. Its not that much extra work to change. One of my friends cracked his sump but he has an eg where it sits even lower and it was slammed. He's raised it now lol
