MB6 VTIS
Hi guys, I've recently purchased my Civic MB6 VTI-S.

I used to be a member of EK9.org before I had my license, time to finally make a thread.

All of the cars I've owned have been Japanese

Anyways I wasn't really much a fan of the MB6, until one day I came across a Blacled out VTIS, and then I fell in love, it was something different, then I later Discovered it came with a B18C4 and a LSD gearbox, the fact it was a 4 door, just made it more practical and a good all round car, with alot of potential.

After my Jordan, I was adamant on finding my self a Aerodeck VTIS, after a few months I got fed up and ended up buying a MB6, The car it self was a very well known car on the forums.

Here is the first pic I took of it, day I put a deposit on it.

So after 3 days of VTEC-ING this happend

I took my mate for a quick spin, went around town and then went up to a a few b roads local to me, btw it's past midnight. IMO the best time:run:

Casually VTEC-ING, buzzing of the 4-1 scooby tone along with the pops, bangs and flames shooting out of the rear, went up a double s bend (uphill) flat foot all the way, slowed down for the right bend emerging, slammed on, heel toe rev match in to second, took the corner and powdered out VTEC all the way in to 3rd and 4th, slammed on for a tight sharp turn to the left, anchored on, heel toe'd again to 3rd and back to 2nd and powered out screaming away! In to 3rd.......

....... And something happend, the car lost power, wouldn't move, I thought I blew the gearbox at first, tried putting it in to 4th and back to 3rd, it went in fine!

At this moment in time were around a farm land, with no street lighting! No signal and no f*ucking POWER!

I just let the car roll as far as it could, and luckily enough we just about made it to the end of the road to the junction, and we had a some street lighting

time to inspect!

i jumped out of the Evo Recaros, shitting my self wondering what damage have I done, will it be a "Quick fix" or no fix?

popped the bonnet, and got our phone lights on, instantly I saw oil leaking out from the exhaust manifold and on the block, at this moment I knew I ****** up :lol:i still had a little hope, put the car on ignition 2, checked the FPR and it was showing 40psi, checked all the intake side, all fine. All the electrics were working, only thing was the ignition side of things, I had no tools so I rang a friend of mine, who is also pretty well known in the Honda game around here ,he also said it sounds like ignition.

So I rang my mates, told them I got a problem, they asked me were you are and I told them my favourite stretch:lol: one of them said, have you wrote it off:lol: I replied NO lol :lol::lol::lol::lol:

anyways they bought some tools down, and I rang another friend of mine who was a recovery truck, took the plug cover off and u found this :))

*NOTICE THE OIL ON THE MANIFOLD AND ROCKER*

Right so once we dropped the car off, I went home and started searching for B18C4's or even a cheap MB6 VTI.

Rang a few people, they said they could make me another engine from parts they had lying about, got quoted £700 for a rebuilt C4 but when I asked if I'll get warranty the dude said no :nono:

So I thought about ripping it out and giving it ago my self....

So I called in sick at work the next morning :dance:

And went down to start taking it apart and see what damage I've done

So I killed a "BULLETPROOF" Honda engine :)):))

Either the car was F*ucked and the previous owner knew , or I just had bad luck.

To be fair the car has been driven hard all its life, and I'm sure it's fine a fair few track days too, so maybe one day it was going to give in.

At this moment in time, I was pretty heartbroken and didn't even want to get it up and running again, the bodywork was average for the age, and it could do with some TLC and just needed a handful of other things doing too.

I left the car for a few days to have a think about what I want to do with it.

Ouch that piston is ******! :O what causes that? over-revving? was it redlining quite a bit? that sucks though, heart breaking I know that feeling... well after mine spun a bearing :angry2:

I thought my spark plug shat itself, someone else said my valve dropped, although the rev limiter was pretty high, so not too sure tbh, the car was getting stick all its life, I just drew the short straw lol

So after a couple of days of thinking I decided to break it, as it's not really worth putting another engine in the car, especially less than a week of owning it.

Pretty guttered but it's got to be done, put everything on Facebook, and pretty much everything sold within a week, held a couple of things for a few lads who left me deposits, and then the shell went to the scrappers :nerv:

So I i got up early, and started stripped everything I could without using a jack or a ramp, after that took it to my mates garage, and got it on the ramp, and stripped it completely, then I went over to the scrappers next door, and they came with the forklift and took the shell away.

Couple of pics of the car getting stripped, and a few photos of some of the bits.

Anyways fast forward a few weeks I needed some power

This PH2 Celica T Sport 1.8 VVTLI 192bhp came up for sale at a pretty good price, I've had 2 Yaris t sports and 1 corolla t sport, all I needed was a Celica T sport & a Corolla compressor to tick off the list.

Here it is

Decent cars for the money, similar power to a EP3, handle very well even in stock form, all I did was tint it and throw on a K&N typhoon for that crossover sound

One of my mates, just recently passed and he was after a car, I told him to check his insurance on my SR, turned out it was the cheapest quote he got, so he ended up taking it off me.

So I went to start the SR up, but the battery was flat due to it being parked up for a while, got the jump leads out and got a couple of quick snaps whilst I still had it.

And off went the starlet, probably won't find another one as clean as this.

After having 10 N/a cars it was time for some boost, the driving experience and throttle response is undoubtedly the best, but I just wanted more power!!!

So I started searching for something Jap and turbo, and most importantly something I can afford to insure, had a look at GC8 STI wagon but when I checked the insurance I knew it's not going to happen.

Started looking at Colt CZT 1.5 Turbo's, EP82 Starlet GT Turbo or even a Glanza V.

Nothing decent was up for sale at that moment in time, and I was itching for more power and bored of the Celica, the Celica was a good car, I already had the Typhoon intake on and I bought a Skunk2 Megapower RR from my mates old DC2, thought it might help me keep the car, was looking to get a set of lowering springs and a few strut braces too.

Back box needed a clean, but I got it a good price

I put the Celica up for sale & swaps

Got a few people to view it, cut the story short, some lad from Cheltenham wanted the car but didn't have transport till the week after!

Me being eager to sell the Celica I threw him a small proposal, I offered to drop the car off if he sent me a good deposit and fuel money upfront, turns out the guy was more eager to have the Celica then I was to get rid of it lol

So I asked one of my mates, if he fancied a little road trip lol, and he was on it! So it was game on!

The next morning we linked up at the local shell garage at 6AM! Fueled up and set off with a LONG day ahead of us.

He had a Fabia VRS 220BHP BIG spec hybrid turbo etc etc , we had a few runs and the Celica was always on top ;), he had a few boost issues tho and we had to stop off at Nottingham and find a garage that'll be open early, got his boost pipe sorted and off we went again, taking it easy this time

so we got to our destination, the kid and his dad arrived, took it for a test drive, and they was true to there word, just the way i was about the description of the car.

Here is where it all began ...

when I was on the search for a MB6/MC2, a Pretty decent MB6 VTIS was up for sale in Barking, down in London, but he wanted strong money, and didn't have a spec as big as the one I bought!

I was supposed to buy this MB when I blew my first one up, but the guy went on holiday and what not, and I kinda couldn't be bothered traveling that far so I left it, but when I was searching for Colts and starlet turbos, decent ones were fetching 5k, only issue with them cars was it took alot of money to get them to run 300bhp safely!

So I convinced my self Turbo VTEC was the way forward! With 5K I could build a decent spec 300+ bhp car, and it can run safely, didn't fancy blowing another one up, so reliability was KEY!

From Leeds to Cheltenham and now to Barking!

A bit about the car, so I sent the guy with the MB a deposit and told him I'm coming for it in a couple of days, the guy has Owned it for 13 years! And had been maintained to a very good standard!

Car had a few bits and bobs on it already such as, S80 box, Meister R's, DC2 airbox, Mongoose exhaust system, blox intake etc

We finally arrived.....

The guy was a Honda fanatic, The MB6 , 2 Nicely spec'd EP3's and a motorbike:lol::lol:

Fabia is my mates btw
PicsArt_03-28-08.19.19.jpg

Anyways we sealed the deal! And I was on my 3rd Honda!

MB6 #2

So after one hell of a long day, with over 550 miles clocked and about 18 hours on the road, finally got local, gave her a quick jet wash before I went home :))

Finally got around to giving it a wash, went to a local car wash, wasn't too fussed about the "2 bucket method" and the Lambs wool mit's, the car could do with a little buff to sort the swirl marks out.

Didn't really get to see the car propperly when I went to view it, it was a little dirty due to it being parked up for a while, and it was also getting dark, and the 4.5 hour journey on the motorway didn't help it much.

Overall the car is pretty clean for its age, it isn't perfect but is alot cleaner than my first one, does have a couple of parking dings on the doors, but it's expected from a T reg civic.

It does scrub up well :))
