Tharshan's 97' civic ek4 VTi Turbo

Great build thread! I suppose with a turbo and the power you are making the weight of the stereo equipment doesn't matter haha

Yup, you're right :p
But everything is set so I can take both of the amps and the subwoofer within 15 minutes for trackdays ;)

I'd be careful pushing the timing on it on stock pistons.

Agree. I don't think I will push it any further than 13-14 degrees maybe. I have to check the egt so that its not too hot right now.

If you've got knock detection equipment then that's a different matter?

I don't have it yet, but soon I will get it a full professional kit. Had to buy the brakes first.

Are you in a hot country? Mine doesn't like 15degrees when it's hot, although you have the meth so that's probably helping alot.

I don't think Norway is known to be a hot country :p But that said, it's pretty hot today, 30C++ outside. Yeah, the water/meth will cool the charge temperature a lot. I think that is what saves my motor.

Sorry man. I didn't know where you was from lol
Yeah I think it's doing wonders with yours atm.
I'd probably not push much more timing without knock detection. Your only like 1-2 degrees shy of my tune at 1 bar. Your at 1.4 bar with slightly higher compression so I'd say your into a portion of the margin meth has given you already.

Problem with EGT is the sensors are sooooooo slow to react. You can't tune for knock with EGT so be careful.
Once I get up to 1.4 bar on mine I'll let you know what the timing limit is.(injectors too small currently)

Last weekend I went to Club-Honda Norway's trackday at Arctic Circle raceway.

I was at my parents for vacation so the trip to the trackday is 930km long.

My friends s2k got some problem, knock sensor had come loose one the way. So we had make a Pitstop :p

The car nearest is my brother civic with h22a engine and itr suspension and brakes.

Arrived at the camp

Took of the number plate for additional cooling and amps and subwoofer.

Wheels and tires:
Front: Japanracing jr5 17x8.5 et35 with h&r 5mm spacer and R888R 235/40
Rear: Rota grid 17x8 et35 and 215/45

I didn't run more then around 1 bar(0.9-1.1), and that was enough power for me this time. No problems at all at the track.

Some videos:
Lost my pedal on the first part and on the second a small tour out in the sand

My first round that day, trying to beat my previous best lap which was 1.52.8

My best lap that day

Going well at 1 bar that!

I've not hit the track at 1 bar yet. Want to master low boost first. Looks like a handful though lol

Yeah, I never considered to turn up the boost at that trackday. Maybe I want more power at Rudskogen.

Btw, the Ceika brakes with carbotech pads was amazing. Only problem is that the gulf RF1000 boiled.

Another drawback is the noise from the pads.

I had told myself to wait with a rear kit, but I just couldn't.

I went for a Ceika Performance rear kit, and my options were:
- Small 4 pot
- 330x28mm
- SS pistions
- 2-piece rotor(non-floating)
- Painted gold
- Black logo
- Parkbrake system with locking-disc

It took just over two weeks after payment to when I got the brakes in my hand. I went straight to my working place to get it mounted, I feelt like a child at christmas.

Ceika did tease me with a couple of picture before the brakes arrived:

How the car looks now:

So what do I think about the brakes? So far on the road, I'm very satisfied and amazed. This is the first time I have feelt that the rear brakes does a job in this car. Pedal travel is the same as before, infact it feels like I have more brakeforce at the same pedal pessure. If I apply maxiumum pedal pressure the abs system is struggeling. There's some serious brakeforce here.

The price is very good, especially considered what simillar kit costs. It's a straight bolt on with just some minor cutting on the brakeshield.

Really excited to test the brakes on track now.

Those brakes look really good. Not often to see rear kits for EK's. Out of interest how much was the kit?

I'm wondering if they are going to be too powerful now?

I paid right over $1600 with DHL shipping to Norway

I'm wondering if they are going to be too powerful now?

With carbotech XP20 in front and Ceika sports pad in the rear, I think it will be good. Have to see that in a corner on track. But hopfully they should be OK. If i'm not wrong XP20 has peak friction coefficent of ~.70 and ceika sport has a coefficent of 0.40~0.50.

Made some upgrades lately.

Hondata CPR kit.

I have decided to upgrade all of bushings to spherical, but because of the price, I had to find a good one which should be protected against mother nature. When I was searching for spherical I found out that hardrace have described the pillow ball bushing to be for street and race use. And from the picture it looked like normal bushing. I took a risk and ordered it.

They looked like this. For front UCA. Ordered these only just for sample.

I installed them in my AMR camber kit og for the curiosity I took off the rubber gasket:

Spherical underneet!

This seasons last trackday is coming, and I'm preping my car for it.

Took a fresh wheel alignment

I have some more parts laying around, I'll see if I get some time to get them mounted before trackday@rudskogen 8th October.

The trackday at Rudskogen was a success.

I was able to set new personal record, and car had zero issues. The brakes blowed my mind, with no stability issues because of the big brakes in the rear. I have to learn to use full potential in combination with R888R tires.

Last time was 1.44.20, this time with the mods I got down to 1.40.28

More video later in the post.

Other fellow Norwegian with a 600hp Delsol. Unfortunately that's all with the car. No other real susepnsion mods or so. I laped him to 1.56.3. It is also his first trackday.

He also got a heat in my car as a passenger, and I think he enjoyed it, and also realized that it's not always about having the most power.

This turn is called "angsten", which translate into fear. Pretty scary turn with high entering speed.

Last mod for this year is VictorX black manifold and carbing 3-point strutbar with mastercylinder brace:

Great news it's still running well, clearly getting confident in the car now.
Let me know what you think of the Victor X manifold.
