Wad up??

Just bought a B18c4 to put in my 97 hatch civic :)) Can't wait to drop it in and feel the power of that vtec!!! waiting for engine mounts, ecu, and wire loom.

got a qustion for anyone who's done a similar swap - Will the immobilizer be affected by changing the ECU? And will I need to get the key barrel and wiring from the organ doner of the ECU?

This is first swap so any advice is welcome

Hopefully I'll have all I need to start by the end of the month. Till then the heart of the beast is sitting in my garage getting a good clean!

but the ecu itself could be either a jdm or eudm spec ecu.do u have the ecu now. if u look at the code on the ecu it will tell u if its eudm or jdm

I have just done this swap

to use the mb6 ecu you will have to get the ignition barrel and imob box and the key

the easier option (what i did) is just convert to obd1 and run a p28 (or similar) with a b18c4 map

im picking a p plate mb6 up next week for £400. it has a hole in the floor and failed its mot which is fine by me as i am gona do a conversion on my stripped and prepped ej9. i will post up my progress

that's exactly what i was looking for!!! makes it a lot easier if you can strip everything from one doner car. Are you going to do the work yourself?

I will b doing a lot of the work myself but a few mates will be helping with the engine swap. i'm defo getting someone else to fit the mb6 loom, iginition, dials etc. i am unsure wether to do a full engine rebuild before i drop in the B18 or just drop it in straight away and rebuild it closer to the summer because the engine will be back out for full interior/exterior painting of the car. i will post up pictures when the weather gets better.what mounts did u buy? also did u have to buy an accelerator cable for a b16 from a 3dr vti because i know they are different lengths.

gotta love a b18c project! My next project will be something b18 related!

my b18 is still sitting in my garrage at the mo. will be picking up the ecu, wire loom, transponder and keys this weekend from a damaged vtis. I'm using the mounts from my ej9 just need to change the rear and passanger side engine mount brackets. didn't know i'd need a longer accelerator cable... uumh i'll have to check that out.

got a spare pully on the b18 which runs the ac, a supercharge conversion may be on the cards later.

great motor, often overlooked because of the jdm b18c-r, but the b18c4 is a wonderful engine for a street car.

I'm almost there now. Decided to build my own engine loom by modifying one from the mb6, took me a little while but its done now, hope it works. I've got the immobilizer wiring sorted as well. This of course is all on paper, so I wont know for sure till engine is in. Will do a full write up once engine is in and working. Waiting for two engine mount brackets which Ive ordered from the US.

Engine is finally in and running!!! a few minor bits to sort out. this is my first swap and it has gone well so far. feeling a bit of juddering at higer speeds so i think my passanger side drive shaft needs to be changed. there are a few pics in my album. hoping to do my exhaust this week.
