Timing Belt Change

Circa 70,000 miles, but personally....when ever you want!

No harm in having it changed at any mileage.

When I do cambelts changes, I usually inspect the water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing, oil pump and tensioners.

I then decide on what parts to replace, if any.

Are you a mechanic?

In my opinion, when the car arrives from japan, the mechanic should check the status of the timing belt, I think you should change it every 50,000 to 70,000 km.

hmmm, im trying to find out wether the car im going to go buy has had the belt changed, its done 52,000 miles, if it hasnt had the belt changed im not going to go buy it.

if i remember right honda is 60,000 miles or every 5 years. which ever comes first. if the car has done that milage just haggle on the price a bit. first thing i do when i buy a new honda though is change the cambelt and check the water pump.

yeh its just im driving the car on a 7 hour drive back home, the last thing i want is it snapping and ****ing the whole car up, on the way home

Common man, have a little faith in the Honda's :D

No serious, don't worry mate, If it's done 52.000 miles the belt won't snap. Honda belts don't snap so easy (at least not in my experience).

If you really like the car, then just buy it, and let your local mechanic replace the timing belt then.

Indeed.

Thats like saying you wont drive the car home if they wheel bolts torque hasn't been checked, in case one sheers off or comes loose!

And fitting a new belt doesn't mean it wont snap either.

The tensioners could be too loose or too tight, or you could even get a belt from a dodgy batch.

You never know these things but you have to have faith in them!!!

You wouldn't be the same with a UK car, so why an EK9?

your not the only one though...trust me!

im just paranoid lol!

Ive been waiting too long now, and an ek9 is now finally within my grasp!

no need to worry yourself at that milage trust me. if you drive it home normall and dont slam through the gears at 8,500 rpm youll be fine! lol

if the car is for you but thats the only worrie it would be silly to turn it down! where abouts are you located?
