I have a trackday Saterday. The weather seems to be damp with temperatures between 0-5°C (I guess basicly the same weather as in the UK - I'm in Belgium). At normal temperatures +/- 15°C I drive on Toyo R888 in both wet and dry conditions at track. But now with these cold temperatures, I'm not sure what tyre will work best. The Toyo R888 or a street tyre (Hankook Ventus V12).

Any opinions?

I've driven in very cold temps(snow on the grass) with a048s took an age to get to any sort of temp. Never tried the r888 in cold conditions. Take both wheels and see how you feel?

problem is that I can't store a second set of tyres and wheels at the track safely.

The last trackday i did was hovering about 0 degrees. It was dry and i had 888s on. They worked just fine, give them a lap or two and you should be ok.

I was at snetterton last weekend with a few mates, variety of cars and tyres and all of them had trouble getting any kind of heat into them until the afternoon when the track dried off a bit. Even then, they were still pretty cool.

This was with ad08 last Jan. Didn't get over 1 deg all day, some dodgy moments!

I will keep with the Toyo R888 and give them a try. We will see how it goes

I would think the Hankooks would generate more heat as the blocks would move around more.

Did the trackday today on the Toyo R888's. Track was wet all day, that combined with the temperature, grip levels were very low. I don't know if the hankooks would have been a better choice. The guys that were on street tyres were struggling too (with a lot of accidents as a result).
