hi guys, ive done 2.5k on a new engine set up(turbo) and 1 trackday. the manifold has cracked around the joint where the wastegate bolts on. is this a common problem with tubular manifolds or turbo manifolds in general???
i would post up a picture but i didnt have a camara at the time.
not a happy bunny.

If you don't want another expansive header, you can rinforced all the sewing and make a new bracket that connect headers to the block!

I've got a Full race T4 fitment manifold with tial 44mm w/g and screamer (with flange) sat around my house still haven't sold it if you're interested.

You need to brace the turbo/manifold as it will just keep cracking. My P-Fab one cracked in the same place, welded a support peg under it to stock the flex from the WG and havnt had any issues since bro

What brand is it ?

its a go-autoworks manifold, there a big company in the USA, and as far as corten miller are concerned its 'a first' there running a few road cars with this set-up.
anyway it seems its going to be sorted under warrenty

Id still brace it tbh coz its a hell of a lump swinging about off those thin tubes. Esecially with a gash roads in the UK!!! I live by the 'fit once and forget' policy of life lol

yeah ok point taken, i agree with your policy of fit once and forget.
your saying brace it tho, surely the screamer pipe which is welded into the downpipe should support the w/g??

Post a pic up your wg/manifold setup and ill show you what in mean. Infact ill show you mine, and show you where i had to brace it. Gimmee 20 mins bro

BOOM....

can you see that round bit the goes from the runner to the W/G tube? Thats the part i had to put in due to it cracking the W/G tube off the manifold :(
No more problems since i welded that bit of round bar in place :)

hello mate i had a obx-r manifold crack on me exactly the same place.

i should of known better :(

right here is a picture of my manifold, i written (very badly) on the picture to show you.

as you can see the turbo set up doesn't have an effect on the joint in question, just the w/g.
also forgot to mention i have poly filled engine mounts and buddyclub race spec coilovers. guess this would bounce it around a fair bit.

Id have a triangle fillet welded in between where you have written 'underneith' and back to the manifold tubes. That should stop it. Does ypurs vibrate a lot with the poly filled mounts????

^^ what was the cause of that?

What make was the manifold? Poor welds/poor quality steel?
