turbo b16b

You can, but the tune has to be amazingly good to stop detanation. Safer bet just to sell it and buy a b18. Less hassle, same result faster and probably more reliable. Plus the extra 200cc and the b18 has thicker valve stems than the b16b and a better squish band. Imo the b16b should be left as an na lump as it was designed to be because its an awesome little engine :)

Did you not have a turbod b16b at one point? Then had fuelling issues which knackered it. Or have I got the wrong person.

Think you told me on my thrll page.

Yea thats me dood, it cracked a ringland due to det hence why i went b18c4 route. Its just a better engine for boost, as well as the b16a. Both better options than the b16b. Wish id of just sold the b16b in the first place lol people advised me to sell it and buy a cheaper lump but i was narrow minded and thought 'why when ive a perfectly good engine already!'
Doh!!
Egg on my face haha

Yeh well I've done the same. :D see how it goes, I'll most probably take the same route eventually.

Stock B16b, b18c5 head is the way forward, from factory flows the most of all the b series heads, has the best cams, better valve train yad yad yad. Use this head if you are going to mess around.

with the GTX3076r - 8 psi (0.82), 1000cc ID INJECTORS, HONDATA S300, uprated fuel pump, Full Race manifold, and some other stuff...you can make 300bhp for sure...still safe :)
I know who did this setup. after 2 years running this setup, the owner wanted to make it NA again, and the engine ran excellent. still running too

i have basicly evrything gatherd together but still not baught turbo kit,has any1 ever fitted a racetech turbo kit on 1 of these? how easy are these 2 fit as im hoping to do all the work myself.

Should not be to bad to fitif you have the right tools etc, all depends on quality. I have heard some good stuff about the racetech stuff though.

im thinking of just geting them to fit it and map it coz they came back with a pretty good price.:) im hoping to have it back on the road for may so ad better gt a move on.lol

I've also been researching turboing and you are paying big money for what you get at race-tech. Why not buy a second hand evo 9 turbo (after all that is what you will be getting from race-tech – albeit reconditioned), upgrade to evo 9 injectors, buy a race-tech turbo manifold, intercooler from the internet and pipe it all up yourself at a fraction of the cost. In addition to this you will obviously require a fuel pump, again this can be sources from an evo 9 or you can buy an aftermarket fuel pump and modifications to your sump. Once you have the car up and running take it to race-tech to get it mapped as they are very good at mapping without a doubt. I initially priced a turbo kit from race-tech and then discovered what a huge profit margin it is supplied at. The choice is entirely the individual's but this is what I will be doing. Keep an eye out for my build coming soon. Please don’t think I’m saying the race-tech kit isn’t good, it certainly is. However you pay a lot for the convenience

Do you know how much cheaper the evo9 turbo setup would come to?

I would not bother going with their evo turbo kit as then you are always going to be limited to what type of turbo you can run, go for something with a t3 or t4 flange

car will be on the road in another few weeks, its looking good at the moment.:) i will put a build thread up soon.

As JDP is saying the squish and higher compression of the b16b engine will be more prone to det which is not what you want when it comes to boosting, the cam duartion etc is not ideal and not need for the turbo engine also, they would be wasted! if you look for a gsr jap spec so its a b18c4 but without the crap manifold that would do the job! not to expensive etiher.
