Hi what's the best oem turbo camshafts as my boosted b18c is running skunk2 pro series cams and they are making power wrong for the boost they are staying on low lobes until 8k then going on high lift till 9k so they said throw a set of type r cams back in ?? It still made good power for the build though

When you say staying on low lobes you mean like if vtec is not kicking in untill 8k rpm ?
What is your turbo set up ?
Sk2 pro series is better cam than OEM type R
But if the motor is stock the type R cams would've been good enough

Mines got ek9 cams. Vtec at 5500.

Ek9 cams here, they were set approx. 5500 aswell. From what I have read online normally b18c4 cams are pretty good if using a cast manifold, and once you get to a nice ramhorn manifold that's when the type R cams come in to there own.

I wouldn't over think it tbh, just crack a set of oem cams in there. Be it b16b, b18c or c4.

You're still using the high cam arent you? From 8-9k what's the power?
Take the whole head off and sell it is my opinion.

290 bhp and
210ft/lb
Do you think dialing them in would make a differance ??

I take it the torque is dropping off up top?
It might do but i wouldn't bother personally. Just take the head off, sell for a nice chunk of cash and buy a standard type R head.

What they are saying is the overlap in the skunk2 cams is basically throwing all your boost down the exhaust.
Makes good power for .55bar.
Mind you most cars make good power over there, let's not get into that.....lol
Where is peak torque in the Rev range? My calculations make it around 7250rpm then must tail off pretty quick?

No it keeps climbing and climbing he said it doesn't tail off at all which is what he wanted it to do if that makes sense

Torque I meant not Hp.You got a graph?
210ftlbs at 8600rpm = roughy 343hp.

Right sorry no not the torque the bhp kept climbing mate

Abit hard without a graph really.
210ftlbs is quite abit to only make 290.
Suggests that peak torque is really early in the Rev range. When's full boost in the rpm range?

For example my b16b T ek9 had 175ftlbs tailing off slightly to about 160 by 8750 rpm.
That sum equals the 280 the engine made peak.

you didn't get a graph with your tuning?

Yea mate il post it up its in the car lol and cheers erm when you say peak boost do you mean when it comes on full or were it's making most power on boost ??

When boost hits it's highest point,
Like mine hits 1bar around 7-7.5k and holds till redline.
Peak torque is 230ftlbs at 7k and holds that until around 8k where it starts falling off abit.
I expect yours makes peak torque earlier due to less boost and that torque falls off as mine does.

Right I get ya now mate il post up the graph aswell so you can have a look n see if you make better heads way of it
