turbo support bracket/bracing pic request

My fabricator is making me a manifold, he's using industrial steam pipe as the wall is much thicker but the internal diameter is the same. Also using high grade laser cut and recessed flanges. I've ordered high tensile studs and nuts. That said since he has went over the cracks on the current manifold and cut slots into the flange it has been fine and seen some high boost. Snapped three studs racing a nismo juke (wasn't really a race but I was fully committed) but the welds held up.

Sorry for slow response. Here's mine. Nothing fancy just supporting weight of the turbo

My Brothers engine came with a eBay manifold, I woder if something like them would work or would them supports crack instead hmm

I bought a cheap mani for an astra before. Cam with the supports like above. It didn't crack tbf but neither has my current mani. Been on track and it's fine

What People think of a fresh set of engine mounts. Still got the original ones in it

I'd definitely put some mounts in it, surprised your engine hasn't done a lap of the engine bay with the stock ones and your power:)).

Go for a softer insert maybe, I'm on 75 shore innovative ones and there's vibration with those.

Any of you lot have your downpipe braced at the rear of the motor?

I was going to get a mount sorted but I've run the car on track and no cracking yet. Tbf I've never had a manifold crack even really cheap tubular before now. I think alot of it can be down to how well the exhaust fits and how it pulls on the manfold.

Yeah it is definitely worth considering if a few people are having issues with cracked manifolds and such:nice:.

Isn't it better to support to weight of the turbo rather than add braces that can potentially crack?

I think the theory with the brace on the exhaust is more to take the weight of the downpipe pipe to relieve the manifold more than brace the turbo.

I hear you Jesse. IMO Downpipe is attached to the turbo so a support brace is effectly supporting the whole thing. As long as you have a flexi joint on downpipe to absorb the vibration you should be okay.
