hi guys, really need ur assistance. it has been a week i have this problem with the car.(B16a, manual.)i use the car daily to work so i could sense or feel if there is a different to the car.

what i feel is the car is dragging as if though there is a fat gremlin sitting on my car.so i suspect the brakes.so i sent to garage to servise front brake.after that i still could feel that dragging.so the mechanic sense there was uneven warmness on the back wheel so he adjust the handbrake.but still to this day, i still feel the dragging but occasionally. so there is another problem. i thought it was just the brake.

the dragging always feel when im in gear 1 and 5.when on highway(gear 5)i stay at 110kmh, i press the gas n the car feels has no power.then i shift to neutral.i shift back to 5th i start to get the power back.so this difference of feeling is noticeable.

damn!now im clueless. whats my next step?i cant let the mechanic solve the problem coz for sure he will try and error thing that will lead to high cost.i hope you guys out there have a solution to this problem.

Could be a rear caliper sticking. might need a rebuild. Jack up the car on the rear and try spin the wheel with handbrake off and then try applying the foot brake and release it and go spin the wheels again. If one or both is stuck after applying the brake then its a problem with your caliper/calipers

i guess thats the best way to go...but the testing must done many times coz the problem arise occasionally not all time...

thanks bro.

rubber seals around the brake piston can be damaged, that needs to be replaced.
But if the problem happens occasionally and in the first and fifth gear, that is really strange.

i've check again and it happens to all gears. so it happens after 5minits of driving.i drove the car for 15 km, speed of 120kmh, brake seldom use as im using highway, then i stop the car.i checked all 4 tyres n found out both front extreme hot, back tyres warm. right front is the hottest. so is this normal?or its a sign of brake dragging?

if it happens only after you have used the brakes at least once then probably brake callipers partially seized. sometimes they get tight as they heat but not so bad as too cause judder under braking , try a good clean and lube of the sides to see if it works . if that fails you may have to replace the calipers . good luck with it
