Alright lads, has anybody had any experiance with the UNIROYAL RAINSPORT 2's as a winter tyre ? I've heard quite a bit of talk about them, i know a few people who run them in the saloons season at castle combe as a wet tyre.

They seem really fairly priced under £200 for a set in 195/50/15.

Can anybody add any comments ?

There an all round good tyre mate, comparable with pirelli p6000's they were as good if not better.

can't fault them personaly... better than toyo proxes T1R's i found..

good in the wet too.. wouldn't compare them to P6000, found p6000's to be awful.. especailly in the wet..

Looking at a set of these as winter tyres on my standard alloys, they have some good reviews so looks promising

I've used them both on my crx as a wet track tyre and my rover 75, there a fantastic tyre in the wet and during winter. Can't see why they shouldn't perform well on a EK

Any new tyre will be better than a worn one for winter, but they are not a winter tyre. Rarerims have some Yoko winter tyres at the moment, if other tyre traders are sold out.

Ran some proper winter tyres last year for the first time (Bridgestone/Firestone Winterhawk), they are a substantial difference over a normal tyre, well worth the cost and will run them from now on.

I had rainexperts for the snow. Really good tyre. Ran them for a trackday in jan with snow/ice/rain and were excellent.
Rainsports would be better again I would imagine :)

Cheers for the imput lads, I can't decide between the Rainsports or the Toyo R1Rs. Both have good reviews. The Rainsports are half the price tho :/

rainsport are good on the rain not the r1r
the r1r are louder

but when it s dry the r1r are good :)

Rainsports on everyday wheels, then spare set with r888 for track, all weather conditions covered at a trackday then :)

I've bought a set of Toyo R1R's in 195/50/15. I only bring my car out in the dry so i thought the R1R would be the better option for me.

I have another set of wheels that i may put a set of rainsports on. That way i could take both sets of wheels with me to the next track day.

I have only ever heard good things about this tyre. I have a friend who also runs them on his EP3, its a very good tyre with equal if not more grip in the wet than it has in the dry.

Uniroyal RS2 tyres are brilliant, very good wet weather grip and good in the dry too. I'd def recommend them specially for the money

What about on the EK chassis tho, i've heard the sidewalls are very soft on the rainsports, from reading through the forums a hard / reinforced sidewall suits the civic well. Any thoughts on this ?

I have had RS2's on my EK9 for a good thousand miles and cant fault them, driven hard in the wet and dry and i feel they performed better than Toyo T1's and Eagle F1's that i had previously :)
