upgrade b16 engine.

Dear all sifus,

i want to upgrade my engine. currently i'm having b16a(big vtec). i want to upgrade the engine only. what kind of upgrade there is at the moment. i want to retain 1.6l, no turbo, no nitro, no changing block. Please pm me. with your specs it will be my goal to mod my car.

Well you can start with a aftermarket header, intake, and a better exhaust system. please give us more information of your motor, if it's a jdm b16a ? or a usdm b16a?
 
this is what you need:

skunk2 PRO intake manifold
any 64-68mm throttlebody
skunk2 stage 2 cams and valvtrain
vibrant jspec 421 header
2 layer headgasket
60mm+ exhaust
decat
and if you have money some pct pistons and port the head.

its a jdmb16a. for exhaust intake is 4-2-1, open air filter K&N. I just want to upgrade the engine to get the hp. my plan on intake is from b16b.

Just a reminder before you start the mods in case you are not aware.....to get good gains on a N/A B16B you need to spend loads of money and its not even needed to replace inlet manifold nor pistons, so like blinx said you will need those also for your B16A with their peripherals which adds even more to the cost. And don't forget that only a complete job can give you enough gains, especially on a 1.6 L naturally aspirated engine. Good luck! :nice:

civicspoon, doing all the above without ECU upgrade is like you are doing a hole in the water!

yes indeed. the ecu...by the way what's your ride? how fast is your ride?

no, you can do more, like:

-forged rods/pistons with very high compression
-1 layer head gasket
-race port and polished head with oversize valves and reworked combustion chambers
-fully balanced crank with crank scraper
-blue printed and balanced engine
-crank trigger with individual coil packs
-stand alone engine management
-dry sump oil system
-custom made intake manifold or ITB's with a custom plenum
-custom long tube race header like hytec
-modified oil pump

the sky is the limit, but as manos said, trying to squeeze every hp out of a little 1.6 is pointless, it would be much easier and cheaper to build a 1.8 or 2.0
 
yeah we all forgot about the ecu lol, what year is your car? depending on that we can suggest you a good ecu, but we need to know what harness you got, obd1 , obd2a, obd2b etc..
