Hey ppl, only new to this site, quick question for you all out there, im runnin a b18c teg engine in my face lift ek9, just wounderin if i put a hondata s300 or a power fc ecu in the car, and got it mapped would you get more hp from it??... Or would i have to go and start doing internals???.......

you dont really need it if the car is basically stock besides the engine are you running a teg ecu?

Yes, you can get more hp with any of those ecus, you need to buy the ecu that your tuner is familiar with.

Its best you wait until you have some modifications done to your B18C before contemplating chipping an ECM for Hondata etc etc. Reason being is that unless you have access to cheap labor rates on tuning then it'd be a waste of time/money to retune a chipped ECM for every added modification after a tune.

As you probably already know you cannot chip an ITR ECM w/Hondata S300 so you're basically going to spend around $700-800(U.S.) on a newly chipped OBD1 ECM/harness and tune for basic tweaking with minimal results with a stock engine.

There are other companies w/ECM tuning services such as Spoon Sports or Mugen to name the popular ones but again results vary w/modifications added to engine. Stock engine = near stock results.

If exhaust dB resonance is not a factor then go with the basic i/h/e bolt-ons. After these modifications you can start to consider a chipped ECM or more bolt-ons such as adjustable cam gears, lightweight pulley system or aftermarket camshafts.

GL with your build and keep us updated. :D
