So at the yesterday I swapped my b16 in my eg for a B18c6 and running it with a jdm p73 ecu!

I have wired in the knock sensor so that is fine

I have code 20 witch is eld but read up on that with it not being a problem is this true?

The idle is sitting high about 1050 according to my timing light! and I think this is affecting trying to set the ignition timing witch is at the middle mark at nearly full retard on the dizzy

I also replaced the timing belt and the marks where spot on when I done it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would say you need to fix the electronic load detector first.
As an assumption I would say if the ecu doesn't know the exact electronic load or draw it will open the iacv more to compensate.

when setting the ignition timing are you jumping the connector?

Also get a multi metre and see what voltage your alternator is putting out

I was told that the eld code is passive and won't effect the running so that isn't true?

Yeah I'm bridging the connector and the alternator is putting out 14 volts

@b16 mini

I assume you have checked for any vac leaks? You could try cleaning the IACV but first check that the TPS sensor is set correctly. With throttle closed you want a reading of 0.4-0.5volts. If you need to adjust it aim for .45 volts. Reset ecu after you set the TPS.

Yeah checked for vac leaks couldn't find any as nothing was off the engine before fitting it to the car! And cleaned iacv too and checked tps witch was reading .45 at closed

Bridge service connector and disconnect the IACV plug. Let me know what the idle rpm is with IACV disconnected.

Car won't even start with it bridged and disconnected

You have to hold the throttle open slightly and once running gently release it

Did we get to the bottom of this in the end?
I've got nothing I can suggest that's not been said already but good for future reference if we found the issue.

Nope still no further ahead!

Things that have now been checked

Smoke test to look for leaks (none)
Changed tb in case a fault with that!
Changed iacv in case a fault!

I did find the rotor Arm hanging off my distributor so I changed cap and arm then it fried the coil so then changed that! And didn't effect idle and ignition timing is still 16 degrees before tdc at almost full advance on the distributor

you've told the ecu that your adjusting the ignition timing? Otherwise it's going to try and compensate for your adjustments getting you nowhere i'd imagine.

Standard cam gears?

Yeah he is bridging the connecter and it's a totally standard b18c6.

Such a weird problem!

Timing is Defo correct and you've got the timing light set up properly?

As you say, weird issue.
I think Aonghus is the most likely person to be able to help you tbh.

Yeah timing is set fine all marking line up perfect and using the same gun Aonghus used to set my timing up with.

I had this when i had a Spoon ECU (JDM) on a UKDM DC2 (B18C6). From what i recall it is to do with the IACV being different within the ECU's.

I changed back to a UKDM ECU and it was fixed.

Yeah bridging connector

Yeah put a new belt on it myself all marks line up 100%

May de different pin out for the ecu connector to control the iacv I'll check it against wiring diagram later!

I put my DC2 back to stock when i bought it. UKDM ECU fixed the issue, did a bit of research and it has done the same to others.
