vit-s is same spec as vti, just better interior, bigger brakes on front (same caliper as ek9) and different rear antirollbar... power is same. rare car..

the explanation of the above specs are correct but pretty sure VTI-S brakes are the same as VTI brakes & a normal VTI EK4 hits 60 in more like 7.5 compared to 8.0 sec which someone has written above.
to add to this i have a VTI-S (i live in England so different specs and names for different countries outside the U.K.)

OK there are two types of VTI-S:
1. Jordan VTI-S AKA a JORDAN, based on a VTI only differences between this and a normal VTI are:
it is a limited edition (only 500 made and each 1 has a plaque to identify which number it is)
produced 1999 only poss early 2000
comes only in YELLOW
air conditioning
Jordan Bodykit:different front & rear lip from the VTI but side skirts same.
features bee & jordan badge on the back
has yellow and black leather interior including door cards with bee emplem
Carbon Fibre gear nob
Jordan written in italics on the rear quarters
Unique different style 15" alloy wheels to the VTI/VTI-S/EK9 (nicest ones if u ask me)
thats all i can think of of the top of my head but sure there are a few more minor things.

2. VTI-S, based again on a VTI only differences between this and a normal VTI are:
it is a limited edition (only 200 made)
produced 1998 only think production stopped in july so R registered
Comes only in BLACK
air conditioning
features VTI-S badge on the back (S is in red) is the same badge that comes on the 1.8 VTI-S's that are 5 door.
Normal VTI interior
Cannot confirm that it comes with a different gear nob (the previous owner changed it for a Razo one)
VTI-S mats with ebroided logo
Unique different style 15" alloys to the VTI/Jordan/EK9
Full Bodykit different to the VTI but same sideskirts as the VTI
includes bigger front and rear lips and mid level rear spoiler
note that this mid level spoiler does come on some VTI's as it was an extra but standard on the VTI-S and the front lip is particularly noticeable different to the VTI and the EK9 it is beefier and bigger than both the above picture of a red VTI has this lip on it which must have been put on after it was made or chosen as an extra when bought originally
In regards to performance a Honda technician told me that the Black VTI-S had an extra 10hp compared to a normal VTI
I have done my 0-60 and the best so far is 7.3 with a passenger. The thing you have to bear in mind is that i did this with my heavy 20kg each 17" wheels on! but i am sure when i go back to stock VTI-S 15" wheels (in June) this will get it dwn to 7.0 dead maybe better :nice:

To add to this futher it annoys me when people have a normal VTI and advertise it as a VTI-S! this is annoying for the humble VTI-S owners and misleading to the outside world. Remember to spot out a fake VTI-S the obvious signs are if its not black or yellow its not a limited edition VTI-S if its black it could be a VTI-S but look for the badge on the back as its quite distictive if its not there its gonna be a standard VTI just in black. if someone has a yellow one look for the Jordan badge but most yellow civics will be Jordans. But remember to look for the extra signs like the bodykit when you get up close. But always look for the limited edition badges first as they are quite noticable if they are not there it isnt its a VTI!!

tried to upload pictures to help explain but apparently they exceeded the forums upload limit of 195.3 yuk!

The 8 seconds are only Factory specifications. My car also has Factory specifications from 10,3 seconds for the 100Km/h.But it takes only 9 sec.
And you had to think about that your gauge isnt always right.

i found my EK4 VTi could take out my mates VTi-S and Jordan pretty easy, for me the jordan seems heavier and sluggish, maybe he just has a crap one and then my other mates vti-s wasnt much different

So i dunno, maybe its all down to how you drive?

def saw an vti-s up close the calipers were as large as 15 rims like ek9, i was told by a tunning company that the brakes were same calipers as an ek9 and 2.2 prelude, just abs systems differ. also it was on a ramp so it def had rear anti roll bar was located in a different position....

Look end this convo now... EK9.... F T W.... I dont even own one yet... but still.. lol

VTi-S and VTi calipers standard are exactly the same...

my car is a 1999 EK4 Type-S, but there's not much difference between a normal EK4 and a Type-S. The type-S is just limited and comes with different colors (yellow, black, blue etc). the brakes are the same as the normal EK4. the car is lowered with some springs that honda had put in.

here you can see how it came stock from honda:

cheers for the info starry!! great help mate!!

i would prefer a ek9 but the only trouble with my age is the insurance :(

wow I was talking about UK VTI-S not a type S. u cant get them in EK4 in the UK. I only know about U.K. as thats were i VTEC/live so that yellow EK with springs is completely different To the 2 types of VTI-S that are available in the UK because its a different country u guys outside of the UK will have different specs because the seats in that yellow one are an optional extra on out VTI coupe.
ANYWAY EK9 IS THE DAD OF ALL OF THESE!! but VTI's in England give most cars a nasty suprise when they go
hazza what is the 0-60 on ur VTS ive beat VTR's but never raced a VTS in my VTI-S, have u beat any VTI's??????
(assuming it is cause its got the saxo VTS wheels)
oh hear is a pic of my VTI-S these arnt the standard VTI-S wheels BTW :D

i have raced a vts with 165 bhp in my ek9 (197bhpR/R proven) and i was only 1 cars length a head in 1st gear ,then 2 car lengths a head in 2nd gear and then good night in third gear i blew him away the ek9 just pulled and pulled and pulled away from the vts

My VTI has a sensor down (lamda - which is getting replaced this weekend) and it is over fueling so i dont know how much power i am losing but i have beat a 106 GTi without a problem but someone i know with a VTS that has a full exhaust system and performance manifold (my VTI is standard) it beat me but only just.

Hazza, is it a VTS you drive? I would check the insurance out on an EK9 type R as i thought it would have been sky high aswell being a group insurance 17 (according to elephant) Im only 21 and i gout quoted a grand for a year, good or bad i dont know however i dare say there cant be much in it between your Saxo and the type R as im sure the VTS is an insurance group 15???
Ne way its cheaper to insure an older car i would imagine?!?

(Love the saxo btw a 1.6 that can do 0-60 in 7.7 seconds is spot on :D)
