Want to now go K24

I've just completed my k24 build.. standard mind you but im already looking to turbo next year lol. I would say just turbo the beast and enjoy it!

What kind of power did you make?
Would you mind sharing the spec of the engine?

the question is do you want to keep it n/a or go turbo/supercharged if you know the answer to that then it will probably make the choice easier but if your just wanting to make it as fast as possible then its a bit harder

I havent had it mapped mate as im going turbo next year. Specs arent special as its really a bog standard kswap..

K24a3 engine
Ep3 gearbox
Action 2ms clutch
Facelift ep3 flywheel
Blox 3" filter with velocity stack
3" exhaust system from solid fabrications
Kpro
Ep3 throttle body
And the usual kswap parts

I would have no idea on what power it would be making as there is nothing really to refer to in he UK..

To answer the OP.. you will need to splice a few sensors into the k20 engine loom so make sure you have all sensors attached.. i cant remember which ones need doing. Thermostat housing needs to be changed to the k20 one as the k24 faces the wrong way. You will need a mount from the CRV' cost me around £60 from honda IIRC... and i believe thats it.

dude get it mapped before u bother with turboin u already have a k pro the difference from a map is insane i bet ud be happy with it after a map the way it is....

Oh i am happy with the way it is, dont get me wrong! But after being in a k20 turbo its just on another level which im now itching for... i just dont find any point in paying for a n/a map then having to pay for a turbo one a few months down the line...

But enough about me. Back to the question... I'd vote going turbo.. even on a safe low boost setup your yielding power of a n/a setup which would have cost you 2-3times as much..

Nice setup Thuong! Good to see you swapped your EK9 pretty quickly too! Loved your old EK as well, should post up more pics or a buildup thread.

This. Was also a fan of your old K'd EK.

How much would it cost for a good turbo set-up

Well ive added up to around the 2k mark, under that if possible. Thats with looking around for 2nd hand parts etc. And plus im not looking for anything special, prices can go up massively if you're looking for certain peices... im going for a bog standard cast log manifold but some may want to go for sidewinders etc which can cost 10x the amount! As long as you spend money where it matters, decent turbo, waste gate etc then nothing should fail.

From what ive been reading.. bog standard turbo build on a k24 would yield 350bhp easily so that should be an absolute animal from there.

Careful boosting stock engines.
Esp if you give the car any track action or prolonged abuse.
Obviously you have my engines melted a piston(track car) but also seen a friends b18c4 crack a ring land on low boost and daily duties, guess I'm trying to say you are playing the lottery.

That is very strange as I've known of a few people who have turbo'd and not have these problems... and these guys are proper hooning their cars on track. But i know what you're talking about. Its pure luck depending on internals etc.. never opened mine up so wouldnt know..

My internals where spot on, could have been an injector though so not jumping the gun.
They are built to tight tolerances and the extra heat created can expand them abit too much.
Plenty of people will tell you "c4 good for 400hp" "b16 good for 300hp"
On the street maybe, get them on the track and hold the power down for long periods, soon find out lol
Basically I'm saying don't turbo unless your prepared to build the engine when/if it goes wrong.
Personally I'd keep it k24 and enjoy the instant N/A power and reliability.

Yeah i see what you mean. I always see the brighter side to life so if my engine blew... excuse to forge and more boost haha!

I honestly cant wait tbh. Will be interesting to see what a stock k24 turbo will make and how it will perform on the track... while it lasts lol

Exactly what I'm doing.
Boosted it, went bang now forging it!
Just telling the story from the expensive side of the fence lol

Haha thanks for the heads up man.. but we all know cars... its an expensive hobbie.. and no matter how many times we say we will stop... it will never!!!! Its in the blood

It is man. I said I was almost done about a year ago lol

Did you send away your injectors for testing yet? Be good to know if a bad injector lead to your engine failure.

I've had good success with boosted stock engines, i've several customers running stock blocks for years now, some of these have seen plenty of track time also :nice:

I haven't, I'll package them up tomorrow and get that done.
