Hi all,

This has just started as far as I know but when it rains heavily, I get a small amount of water coming in from the N/S/R light area. I've sealed ths rear light seals over a year ago but I'm ordering some new ones to be safe.

But I found this near my near side tailgate hinge an wondered if anyone has any issues with water getting into the boot from here?

I found a small black line going into my rear arch area and I think it's a water mark.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Im sure the jazz's had a similar problem and got a recall about it. Basically just the sealer was cracking like so. So the recall was basically just re seal it. I would find the start of the leak/crack and seal it up mate.

I was planning on re-seam sealing that bit on the photo n see if that cures it. Other then the water mark I can't see any other indication of water getting in.

could be the seam between the boot and quarter panel, the bit where the the water runs down from under the spoiler to the rear light.

Could also look at resealing around the fuel cap?? I dont think this area is caused by the actual light seal.

Ah, didn't think about the area around the fuel cap. I'll have a nosey at that as well

Thanks :nice:

Leak spots:
-seam sealant at join between roof skin and rear quarters
-seam sealant at join between rear quarters and boot panel located behind/below/side of rear lights. If your getting water from behind the lights its probably due to this, will be barely noticeable.
-rear vents seals but also the two white plugs that secure them can cause leaks
-rear light seals

Most of my interior is striped out so would be a good idea to take it all off n have a good inspection. The water was behind the lights but it was hardly any like you said.

I'll check what you've listed elchunk. Thanks :nice:

Sealant around boot hinges can crack and let in water also I found out!
Easy fix thou like most cases, its just finding them!

That's where the crack is. Next to the left side hinge. I'm going to apply some new seam sealer to ths area.

Easy way to find the leak...... take it through one of those horrible auto carwash chambers of doom with your mate sat in the back looking and feeling for moisture. These car washes are great at throwing water up down and side to side. You should spot it fairly quickly. If the thought of the auto wash isnt good then many buckets of water should do the same job ish.

thats actually quite a good idea mate, i found my leak by sitting in the boot (car is stripped) and got someone to go over all the typical areas with a hose, eventually realised it was the bolt holes for my spoiler :nice:

Yeah when its only a mini leak there is only the by chance method and proving it method that will nail it. And like I said the doomwashers throw water in directions that rain cant :)
