Hello guys , having some troubles and would need some assistance.
So I have an EJ9 , d14a4 engine , SFi ecu 96-98 model , bought a complete swap from a 99-00 ek4.
Bought everything brand new and put the engine in the car. We had an electrician do the conversion (pretty common in Greece) and the car worked perfect , no issues whatsoever. The engine was freshly rebuild but it was done poorly by the previous owner and at 4500km , the engine blew its head gasket.
Before I did not have those issues.
The car stayed for 2 months at a workshop. The engine was rebuild (a bit higher compression , acl bearings and oil pump).
The car got put back together and now I have some weird CELs.
I turn the key into the ON positions and the CEL does not turn off (not all the time ofc).
The errors I get with the engine running are the following.
54, 61 , 81 or 80 and 1 , note that I bridge the blue 2 pin connector and the abs light is going on and off. and the CEL stays on.
Now when I bridge that and turn off the engine and back on (removed the bridge) it open the CEL and closes at the on position and the car works well.
I went to my mechanic , we removed the lambda sensor (o2) from the connector to test it for a couple of days and indeed it worked as it should , although with a CEL due to o2 being unplugged.
Let the car cooldown and again the same. I took it for a small drive and the car was bogging down , could not pass 2k-3k rpm but not like a limp mode more like excess fuel or timing issues. I parked it , waited 30 seconds , started the car and all is well. It did again bogged down but cleared itself out . Note because its a fresh rebuild I do max 3k rpm , and for testing went up to 4k. These problems started after the rebuild.
Note the car did not come with CKF sensor , simply its not there , everything on the distributor.
Today , I removed the ecu , checked it everything seemed ok. no funny smells nothing seems burned.
The pins in the ecu were a tad corroded but cleaned them up and tested , same story.
The wiring seems to be ok , pulled the wires are where they are suppose to be in the distributor and on the ecu side.
I will attach some pictures of the wiring.
I will measure tonight the signals of those 2 pins , those pins that are exposed should be the (29/30 C connector , CYPP, CYPM)
The ecu is a p2t , stock ek4.
My mechanic told me that the error that I encounter is from the TDC sensor inside the dist (from his books). So I am really into a stalemate right now. Do I change both o2 and dist , do I do something with the ECU? no clue.
I am not sure how to upload the video from the error codes if someone needs that too I can send it.
