the whining might be coming from the fan belt idler pulley, as long as its not inside the timing cover as there is also an idler pulley and water pump, if it is get it checked asap

It cud b the fan belt idler as u said mate its not cumin frm the timing belt cover the does this make dat noise, water pump, timing, and tensioner are all change abou 130k to 140k the car is 160k now ill still get it check though jus 2 b sure

to check the idler, reach in with a long screwdriver and rest it on top of the nut in the center of the pulley, put the screwdriver to your ear and listen to the sound as it rests on the nut, if a loud sound or vibration comes through, the bearings on the idler pulley is the problem, if not check the alternator and air-con pump the same way

Wel mate can air-con pump b it i have no aircon and can the alternator also make noise nd if this idler bearing is gone is it easy to change and also by any chance do u knw wer the pcv is located is nothin to do wit dis i jus wana knw

there is no idler if the aircon is removed, the alternator or the power steering pump can also cause this noise, if you cant detect it with a screwdriver, remove the power steering belt first and restart the engine and if the noise is still there, remove the alternator belt and start the engine, this will rule out these 2 components and you'll no the noise is behind the timing cover.

there is one behind the cam cover and one under the intake at the gearbox side.
you were told in the other thread to check your pcv as you car is burning oil, forget about the pcv and change your piston rings.

when i change my aircon i left the pulley on the car as i cut the belt off also wud changing the alternator belt nd power steering belt eliminate this noise also wud the car start witout the alternator belt.

Dat wasn,t me in the other tread i jus wanted 2 knw as im planning on changing the pcv.

do the test i told you to find out what pulley is at fault, yes the car will start without the alternator belt but the light will be on in the dash to say its not charging.
