Hi guys, now before anyone says this has been coverd or that i should of searched first. I cannot search as i am using my fone and it wont let me for some reason.

I am trying to find out what gearbox oil i need as auto data doesnt cover it for jdm cars. I am just looking for standerd oil but need to know the grades. Hope some one can help cheers.

If you pop into your local Honda dealer parts dept you should be able to buy some MTF the S80 takes 2.2 litres IIRC - try and take a container for them to put it into.

Ok mate thanks. Do you know what grade that is ? E.g. 75/ 80

Honda MTF-3 is the oil to use. Honda never have released what grade it is.

We have it at £9.99 per litre.

honda's mtf or some high end royal purple or torco stuff. For those that have said landy mtf i'm not so sure, As i can it before but it definitely made the diff sound louder plus on comparison to oem honda mtf the landy oil is definitely a thinner oil. :(

i think i will go for the honda mtf. Alot of people on other forums are saying to use 10w/30 engine oil :/ sounds abit dodgy to me!

Fudge that mate! Do it properly and use the oil that works! Period!

I know thats what i thought haha who would risk putting that in a gearbox!

MTF is based on 10w30 / 10w40 engine oil but has additional additives..

Ahh really. Thats interesting :/ well for anyone that wants to know i have just found out the grade of oil that it should be which is 75w/85. In this case i guess i could just use normal 75w/85 rather than the expensive honda mtf. Anyone think this will be ok ? I know obviously the honda stuff would be better but im on abit of a budgit.

Go for the Honda mtf or something like motul / redline / torco depending on the price.

**** oil in these boxes dont allow the synchros to work well, saving money here will cost you in the long run

Ok guys you have convinced me. Im going for the honda mtf :) thanks for all the help
