hi all, have just been on ebay and found a civic ek9 spoon tuned!! its done not many miles and is apparently running 240bhp. if the description is right everything seems to be uprated. am still trying to sell evo 8, is this a worthy buy??

Guys what would say about the condition of the rocker cover? What story does peeling paint tell on a low mileage car?

who knows, maybe it was cleaned with the wrong chemicals, or it was resprayed but a crappy job etc... low mileage does not change the fact that the car is still going to be around 10 years old, oxidation will still occur :(

one thing i learned from my dad when buying a car is he walks around the car and knocks on the car.. like in the door's, front and rear fenders, and the edges of the car he said that if you hear a hard knock then that part is repaired and has a lot of "bondtight" to it.but if the sound is like when you knock on the the hood(bonnet) then its A ok...
hope this thing helps and hope you get what i mean..lol

very2x nice write up blinx:clap::nice:

Thats is some good write up dude, very good for the likes of me who is looking to buy at the moment!

What would ye say to some one to look out for if u take a car out for a test drive?
id have an idea of things to look out for but new advice is always welcome!

Thats a helpful read. Will now know a bit more of what to look out for when I go test drive one when I have the money to buy.

thank you very much blinx! I'm 15 only but I tried to convince my mom to let me buy a EJ/EK as a first car but she said, car is more than 10 years old, many things needed to be changed, not sure if the driver raced on it before, and much more. Now I could use this thread when it comes to me buying a 10 year old EJ/EK. :nice:

FormulaRon your mother has some valid points, but the great thing is with most Honda's is they probably were abused int he past but they can handle more abuse than just about any car, tell her you are willing to allow her to have the car taken to any mechanic to make sure it is in sound shape and perhaps that will ease her fears.

You can usually tell if a car has been raced on a track from the mods, it will usually have race seats, a harness, a harness bar or roll cage, very stiff suspension, etc...

I would personally not mind owning a Honda that was used as a track day car because i believe in there reliability and most people who track there car take meticulous care of the vehicle to ensure they can continue to have fun at the track :nice:

Thanks again blinx. I do believe that my mother has some valid points but I also do know like what you said, the EJ/EK can take a bit of an abuse. I've also told her to bring the car to a mechanic and she said, "We'll think about it." Well, hope in 2 years time, you guys will see a post in Members Ride/Projects from FormulaRon :nice: :D

agreed:) cos i have these mod in my car and i maintain my car very much, i dont even go to track is just for looks and feeling of it, i dont even rev the engine to limit as i change gear about 7500rpm. you also have to listen to engine noise when buying, any tapping or other weird noise. first when i bought my car engine was great but after the first week it starts tapping,it was cheap fix thank god. oh and also look at bushes,specially rear ones and engine mounts

How wud u tell if it has been properly undersealed as i noticed this was in the thread but not sure how to look for it??

Being in the UK r weather is **** and r roads covered in salt lol
