I have done some research but cant come to a conclusion

The smoke just seems to be white and smells of a cross between fuel and smoke i guess

last month its always been about 6pm and 6am i use the car, so its freezing cold pretty much, and i cant work out if its due to the cold that i see smoke? or condensation? even when the cars warmed up its still pretty noticeable, though i dont know if i just see smoke more on my car from the 4" tailpipe and decat compared to standard cars running around with tiny tailpipes and a cat in place? im just hoping its not the head gasket or something else internal but cant work it out.

my anti freeze resevoir never needs topped up, though the car does like oil if you drive it heavy footed so usualy top it up ever couple of months. dont notice anything destinct inside the oil cap.

thanks for any pointers

dosent sound like the head gasket if you check the oil cap and there is no white gunk, so i wouldnt worry mate, just drive her on,,:ek9:

my old vti used to put out white smoke when it was cold outside. its just condensation as it was a straight exhaust from the manifold, no cat. nothing to worry about.

just was worried about both the smoke and the oil i can go through.

comments sound convincing enough to me anyways :)

As for oil some need/use more than others. my vti needed topped up every few months and i have yet to put more oil into my ek9. just depends on how the cars been looked after, ware and mileage. etc...

If it was oil you were burning the smoke would have a blue tinge to it and you would smell it.

As elchunk says just condensation , am in a similar situation has he used to be . I have a straight through off my downpipe and the amount of white smoke is mad when its cold out !!

With your engine burning oil but no oily smoke present....

Try different oils - i've had a few Different VTEC engines and had same problem and they all liked different oils - once i found the right one they barely used any.

is it clearly blue?

i would say its more white but it does pong even when heated up

No its not always clearly blue infact some poeple confuse white smoke with blue.

If your burning oil through your exhaust you may have a build up of oil in your tail pipe check it out, you would also be able to smell it.

Your Oxygen sensor will more than likely be a good place to check too but that requires getting under the car.
