Hi all,

I was wondering if the trim of the front windscreen can be replaced with a new one without removing the glass?

Anybody done this before, how did it turn out?

Cheers,

Benji

yeah they can be removed without removing the windscreen, they un-clip but can be quite awkward

new ones from honda are not exactly cheap either, they wanted £80 each side for my eg

the thing is that on the ek its a different kind of trim, somehow i think it wont be as simple as on the eg

EK9 trim is a pain to refit without taking glass out, it grips the glass both sides so might be difficult to remove the old one as well.

I did one with the glass in place, was very awkward but a bit of soapy water helped

thanks for the feedback guys

@graham: were you satisfied with the way it turned out, was well positioned in the end?

anybody have some more experience with this?

i want to replace the trim but i want to be sure i dont end up having to pull the glass out to get it to sit right

I can't really help you on the refitting of the trim, but I have a brand new OEM rubber trim for an ek/ej (ek9 may be different), that I can sell you for half the price.

I know this is a bit of a thread revival but for future reference - the windscreen trim cannot be replaced without taking the windscreen out on a EK9 or other EK Civics. The reason is that the glass sits in the molding and the molding itself is bonded to the car. When I removed my windscreen it was really difficult to get the glass out of the molding and the chances are you'd break the windscreen doing so. In the end I got a new Pilkington windscreen and molding from local windscreen fitters (£132 for both inc VAT).
