I've got a ek9 shell and was thinking of putting a b18 into it anyone done it and recommed it. I currently have a b16a2 but was thinking a b18 would be a lot better. Also what's insurance like with a b18.
Considering b16a is the bottom of the tree then yeah a b18 is going to make more power isn't it.
Preferably a dc2 b18 not the c4 found in the civic aerodeck...
Even a boosted c4 I'm not keen on tbh, unless it's forged then it's ok by me.
I know I had a c4 in mine but at the nearest opportunity it was back out again in favour of my forged 16b.
Just feel like an ek9 with c4 is devalued loads, like 1k+ is missing from the engine bay....
The b16a2 is out my Jordan. Would go for a b16b if I could get one for a reasonable price but don't know what they got for in the UK. That's why I was thinking a b18 out of a dc2.
Depends on mileage and history really dude, you could probably buy a b16b and s4c lsd box for £1500 or less but there's no guarantee it doesn't smoke more then Bob Marley did. Your best bet is to get a full conversion with backed up history, or an engine from reliable breaker that could possibly be road tested before hand.
I paid £1k for b16b with lsd box and all ancillaries. Most of these engines have been ragged for the last 15 years or more so most do smoke. If you do find one that genuinely doesn't smoke you'll have to pay more. Don't be tempted to pay silly money for an engine, these are still old Hondas not Ferraris, there are loads of chancers on eBay who'd like you to pay half the value of a dc2 just for an old smokey b18c
Gutted for you about the Jordan....
Another lad around here woke up a couple of Sundays ago to an old geezer having ploughed through his Jordan! Another one gone.....
