ALLWAYS change the tensioners when you do the belt last time i had the belt done on my EJ9 the belt was fine but the Tensioner was rusted and on its last legs.

They had both done 45,000 miles.

For the sake of a few £ to insure peace of mind its a no brainer for me.

Water pump should be fine.

it's a practice for many engineers not to replace the tensioner. Wrong if you ask me. Still if the tensioner is going bad are there any signs of knowing that?

I had the same issue.

I decided to replace the tensioner because the old one had started to rust and whats the point of taking the risk? OEM Tensioner was £50 from Honda - Two Mills. I know its a lot for a tensioner but its a major component so its worthwile replacing it, unless of course you find yours is in mint condition!

As for the water pump, it shouldnt need changing unless your car has been given a right hammering throughout its life and the coolant has not been changed.

Hope this helps,

Josh..

Cheers Lads for the Help:nice::nice:.. av the Timing Belt and Tensioners ordered...im not gone to change the water pump i dont drive the **** out of the car and the fella at Honda said they never av to change them:nice:.. and as Josh said unless the car has been hammered round the place ..Which it has'nt ..it should be fine:nice:... Cheers for the Help Lads!

the tensinor should be ok if it hasent got any play or isnt noisey if it is then chang it and i would only changed the water pump if its leaking or if your car has cooling problems. did you order the tension spring as they strech

I dont no Shaun bout the spring... I orderd a tensioner kit.. does the spring come as part of the kit?!?

I just got my timing belt changed. I also had my water pump, tensioners, sum bolt and the spring changed! best to go all out when doing this mate to be safe! :) peace of mind if anything
