Hi I keep topping up the coolant in my overflow reservoir but every week or so when I check the coolant reservoir is down very low (but not completely empty).

No matter if I check the coolant overflow reservoir when the car is hot or cold it will be almost empty.

I've checked for small leaks in the cooling system and I can't find any. Car runs 100% fine, with no overheating. No water in oil to suggest it's a blown headgasket. No leaks in the coolant overflow resevoir either.

Any ideas?

Recheck for leaks they maybe in a pain to get see place. Get a compression and leak down test done to.

Lift your mats in the car and see if they are damp underneath. If they are then poss pipes or matrix in the car.

Check your hose clips. We had a problem with one being so rusty it wasn't giving the correct clamping force. When really hot it was expanding and forcing some coolant out past the hose and clip. New clip problem solved.

Wow, i bet you felt great when you worked that one out lol. If you know what i mean....

I have this problem too, my car seems to steam a lot on startup though which is slightly concerning. The engine had a new headgasket about 4000 miles ago though so I'm hoping it's not that!

That could just be the condensation in the exhaust. Are you on about the B16B you brought ?

Yes, the engine runs sweet as anything, I very much doubt it is the headgasket.

It does seem to collect a lot of condensation in the exhaust, is the stock EK9 system renowned for this?

Yeah, all the one's i've come across anyway... My stock exhaust was for sure. The exhaust i have on now is the exact same.

I had a smaller heater hose crack on me in the past, hairline crack in the hose that you could not see. Once you moved the hose out of position and put stress on it, coolant would stream out. Would have been hard to find had I not moved that heater hose when looking for a leak.

I ended up replacing ALL hoses after 10 years of service.
