Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Yeah they have to be made currently so get your order in and they'll be made with mine.
I feel a 15x8, 15x7 stagger is a good thing.

I'm not really ready yet, so many other things to do and buy....
You think they will clear the front wings?

The rims themselves will be fine.
The weds are 7 et 31 but I use a 5mm spacer so technically et26 so these will sit 3.7mm further out according to willtheyfit.com lol
The extra width and sidewall of the new tyres might be a small problem(doubtful) but I'm sure an arch pull would fix it.

Today was "prep to build" day for me.
Basically I've set about cleaning everything and putting Pistons/rods/rings together ready for assembly.
I've worked a real meticulous method this time, new motto is "if it's not in my hand, it's in a bag" idea behind this is too keep contaminants to an absolute minimum by sealing all parts in their own bags once they are cleaned/aren't being used. Fresh latex gloves after every piston/rod assembly, cleaning the cap of the assembly lube after every use and a final wipe down with a brake cleaner soaked microfibre before bagging should ensure a clean assembly!(I hope)
Work station

I've had to reuse my old piston rings(only 500miles on them) not the best situation but waiting 4-5 weeks for another set isn't an option, I'm hoping I'll get away with this but time will tell.
Since the blocks been honed again piston ring end gap is going to be alittle larger than before combined with the extra wear the new hone will have on the ring faces could have an effect. We'll see.
This is the water after simply washing two sets of piston rings(two Pistons worth) and then spraying them and the rods with brake cleaner. Plenty dirty aye! Needless to say this was replaced with fresh for the next two!

Took me the best part of 2 hours to get to this stage.

Cleaned up the Morosso sump and other engine parts all bagged up ready to go for tomorrow!

Plan is to get the bottom end built up and sealed off again, prep car for trackday that evening then pull engine out later this week. Clean up the dc2 head and install that on the new block. Install early next week and be all ready for japfest2 with a run in forged block!
Abit of a mission but doable.
More updates tomorrow no doubt.

Maybe just me but there is no way I would re-use the piston rings after spending all that time and money, what did your machinist say?

Is there no way you can get piston rings quicker?! I wouldn't risk reusing them either after all the trouble you have had and all the effort this time to get it perfect it's just something waiting to go wrong...

Wiseco rings took 4 weeks from tegiwa last time I ordered them. I can't wait that long as I'm in Germany from 28th August.
I'd rather use new aswell but it's not possible.

I'd imagine we'd find out if it's going to have a detrimental effect pretty quickly.

Not only the ring face being worn but also the ring gap etc from the new hone making the cylinder alittle wider. After checking the rings for condition they look good but obviously show a shiney face from being used before.
I honesty think I'll get away with it seen as they've only been in 500miles, not like I'm trying this with 10k old rings.

As I said I'd rather use new aswell but time is against me. Unless someone has a set a Wiseco rings I can buy from them?

Yeah it a hard situation to be in man!

Just a shame it's such a long wait for them, I would've thought @Tegiwa Imports would have had at least one set in stock!

They may well have. I'll ring them tomorrow.
Last time took awhile

Can you not get them from USA probably be a week if you said to real street that you needed them fast.

I've sent them an email, might just ring them tomorrow aswell after tegiwa. If I can't get them then I'll have to re use.

Can Honda rings be used with Wiseco Pistons do we know?
Ring thickness would be my concern.

+1 on this. -And I didn't even fit a new oil or water pump to my build.
That broaching process is so critical and a black art.

The cylinders have a fresh hone but obviously the rings where used in my last engine. I can see why everyone says to change them and I will if I can get them in time.
I think it's more to air on the side of caution to buy new than that the used ones aren't going to work or cause problems.
Hopefully a call to tegiwa can sort me out, need to find out the thickness of oem rings and if I can use them on Wiseco Pistons, I'm sure tegiwa will have 81.5mm oem rings in stock.

Give H tune a ring, Scott might have some in stock. I wouldn't re use the rings despite how many miles are on them, you don't want to have to strip it back down again in case

Got an email from real street.
They are order in and take 3-5 business days for realstreet to get them.
Then get them over to me and through customs is pushing it abit fine.
Going to ring around tomorrow but if I can't find anyone else looks like I'll have to take a shot on realstreet getting them too me in time.

Right,
Put crank in all clean and spins real nice a smooth.
Decided to bag it up there and wait for new rings to arrive, Htune can get some in Monday so I'll probably go with them. Waiting on an email back to start that off.
Block/crank is sealed in 3 seperate bags so should keep contaminants out while I'm waiting.
In the mean time I can get removing the current engine and prepping the head for install aswell. So time isn't lost at all really.

Piston rings are designed to last a long time. Providing there's nothing wrong with them, they'll be fine to reuse.

I did think this but I'm now doubting myself lol
I've ordered them from Htune now so I'll just replace them anyway.
