Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Yeah I believe the track opens about 5:30, opened up 15mins early yesterday.
I think we are going museum and karting this morning, I need to find a go pro charging lead from somewhere and just looking at general tourist stuff I believe.

Literally just got back tonight. Caught all the laps on video but nothing amazing tbh. Track was wet for alot of the weekend but we managed afew half dry laps and a couple majority dry laps. Lots of traffic and yellow flags due to the conditions mainly but lots of fun none the less.

So I've not updated about the ring etc.
No videos yet but I promise to get atleast one out.
So,
First long trip on my own map, managed 36.5mpg on the motorways of Europe doing a minimum of 70mph the whole way. Was running it alittle too lean for my liking though so I doubt I'd manage that figure again but it is possible for a 400hp b series to get over 36mpg, which I think is really good!
So we get there and manage 2 laps out on the Friday evening, that's a good start, last year I didn't even make it onto the track before the car had broken down. Two yellow flags out on both laps iirc but the conditions where dry and good. In the past I'd fly right through a yellow flag for the sake of a laptime, I guess I'm just growing up abit now as the laptime meant very little to me this year.
@B16Swt got his first lap of the ring that evening so I was happy to have shared that with him, maybe i can get you guys that lap.
The next evening the track was drying out all day from a raceway that was taking place. That meant as the track opened for tourists it was a good portion dry, again yellow flags and patchy areas of wet track. We met up with @Paintballer3000 and spent the day/evening with him, always good to meet other ek9ers.
Sunday was the same story really, half wet, half dry, yellow flags and traffic.
Monday it was wet all day but we camped out at brunchen(youtube corner) and waited too see if the track dried out.

We where rewarded for our patience with about 2 hours to go the track was drivable, still patchy but majority dry without a huge amount of traffic, yellow flags out still but massive fun was had in that last 2 hours. I think I did about 4-5laps in that time!
I take massive pride in saying the car ran faultlessly the entire trip and I've no complaints about any part of the car at all tbh. Gave Sam his first shot of vtec turbo and also a taste of what he has too come with his build. Needless to say he's excited about getting his finished, if you've not seen it check his build thread out!

Superb mate glad all went to plan sounds like you guys had a blast!! Car looks mean too!

You guys may remember I've been having a strange puff of smoke. Well it turns out it's blue and only happens when I'm coming to a stop. I've pondered on this for a while now and I think it's the turbo oil seal seeping into the exhaust, now I think this is due to the route of the oil drain more than the turbo itself.
I'll try and adjust the route alittle bit and see how that goes.
Civic had its MOT today, fit as a butchers dog. Got a chance to get right underneath it.

Loving how clean the underside is and how well the exhaust has tanned. People probably get the idea that my cars abit rough around the edges so it's nice to show everyone it is actually looked after where it counts, underneath.

Found an oil leak which also points to the drain backing the oil flow up to the turbo.

On a personal level I've been getting involved in a few maps for people that need help lately, not money being earnt but lots of experience. Tuning from a distance is abit difficult but it's a matter of time until I get the break I need to tune a proper setup (that isn't mine) and that people are going to notice.

Great update mate and thanks for the mention :)) I wish we had a cam on my face for that first lap! Mega!
And for anyone wanting a tune send Jesse a message, he's done a fantastic job with his car and I'm trusting him with my build.
Had a fantastic time at the ring, roll on next year.

Thanks man! Always nice when someone sees the work you've put into something you can't see.(if that makes sense)

Makes perfect sense too me, but honestly give this guy a chance and he'll be an excellent tuner.
Can't wait for you do do mine mate!
Glad she went thought the mot with flying colours. She's got an nice under carriage

I can't wait to do yours either!(oi oi sailor)
Two ek9 turbos at the ring next year will be great fun!

Was just thinking, your oil drain is totally different to mine. Mines coming out at a 45 degree bend, not 90 like yours, less angle may help with the oil drain?

Yeah I think the drain is the issue with the smoke tbh. The problem is a 45degree will put the line too low to come back to the sump.(making it an upward angle coming into the sump) This manifold hangs the turbo low really.

Ah I see, maybe a custom bend required then. I'm sure you'll think of something :nice:

Yeah I'll try afew things with this line 1st. If not a larger line but still a 90. It's going to flow more oil even if it's still 90 degree.

Yeh bigger diameter pipe would help, I take it your turbo came with a restrictive union for the feed?

Yeah I've got that fitted already. Quite surprising how much it will still flow through one of those if it's backing the oil up from the drain pipe.
