Hello I want to buy a 4gen
But I am a little confused
What's is the best ef to have and what's the difference between the ef9,ef9sir,ef9ivti and the gl

Please can some one help me as I just can't get the answer and it's doing my nut in please help

The main difference are the motors and some accessories, I don't know exactly what motor are especific for each model, but some came with a 1.5 motor and other ones with the 1.6 DOHC zc motor.

I'll focus on the 2 models that for me are the ones you need to get, the EF9 SiR or the EF9 SiR-2.

There were 2 versions of the EF9, the Civic SiR and the Civic SiR-2. The Civic SiR is actually the 'bare hones' version. Besides the 160ps B16A mated to a 5MT (auto versions are not available), the SiR features a 'manual' air-cond, front and rear disc brakes, front and rear double wishbone suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars and semi-bucket front seats and optionally a viscous coupling LSD. The EF9 SiR-2 adds sunroof, ABS, power windows, powered side mirrors and various other such features.

Hi
There was no EF9 VTI. EF9 was always SiR and SiRII B16A 1.6l DOHC VTEC 160 hp Japan domestic market
In europe it was called EE9 1.6i-VT and featured the B16A1 1.6l DOHC VTEC 150 hp Euro spec engine. These were the Civics
There are also the CR-X EE8 1.6i-VT with the same spec as the EE9
And the CR-X EF8 SiR which has the same spec as the EF9.
The 1.6l DOHC VTEC engine from these days was the worldwide first engine equipped with a variable valve control technology

Also there are the "normal" Civics and CR-X like
EC8 1.3l 75 hp
EC9 1.4l 90 hp (and CR-X EE6 1.4l 90hp)
ED6 1.5l 90 hp
ED7 1.6l 110 hp (and CR-X ED9 1.6 124 and 130 hp)
these cars all are SOHC 16valve engines (the 130 hp 1.6l has a DOHC) without VTEC
