Trondelond's EK4

Paperwork sorted, now it´s the final check to get it all in the car´s documentation. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, ordered some bits. Got an OE EK9 front strut brace, but it didn´t fit with the car on a slightly uneven surface. I hope it´ll slip on when I´ve got it on a level surface.. :/

Some bits from tegiwa as well, got a rear brake overhaul kit, as the last one I ordered was for the smaller diameter piston. Hopefully this is the right size. One oil filter tool, and a brake stopper. Also ordered a TPS gasket, but ended up with a TPS sensor as well. I´m not complaining.
Since I´m going to be running a B18 on the B16 engine mounts, I figured they might not be strong enough for the extra torque in the long run, so instead of poly mounts, I wanted to try an engine damper.

Suddenly, engrish!

Yep, I´m a JDM whore. Spoon rear strut bar.

Thank you, sir! And here´s another one! Got around to installing the Spoon rear strut brace yesterday. I think I need some rubber edge trim, but It´ll probably have to wait until I change all the interior plastic.

One added bonus is that the holes I hacked out for the brace looks like a dickbutt. For those who aren´t familiar with this magical creature, it looks like so :

I also tried to install the EK9 front "strut" brace, but the it won´t fit. I´m assuming that the EK4 and EK9 braces are identical? Anyone?

If it won´t fit, I´ll make it fit, damnit. Elongated the holes of the front strut brace, and hey presto.

...and now a little Innovate MTX-L wideband lambda peeks out from the glove box. I've run all the wires into the engine bay, so I have to install the sensor into the exhaust, and wire the simulated narrowband signal into the loom! :)

ha dickbutt???? anyway fair play man lots of work goin on here

Respect the dickbutt! Thanks! :D

Your garage/work area is amazing... can i move in

Epic progress :)

Funny you should ask, I was thinking about that while I was working now - I´ve got a great space, but I miss the old garage where I used to live, we were 4-5 people crammed in there, and the work was a lot more social. Plus, and extra pair of hands come in handy quite often. Here´s the old one - DC2, Pulsar GTi-R, an old CRX, RX7 and an EG9 when the pic was taken :

Finally! The authorities approve of my rear DC2 arb, brakes and seats. This means that the car is more or less road legal. Waiting for the paperwork to come in the mail. Now I'll just have to wait for my EK9 cat to arrive in the mail, and it's off to MoT! :)

Quick update, done some minor bits; noticed that gearbox oil had washed the dirt away from under the gearbox - I´m guessing whoever opened that plug last didn´t use sealant when they reinstalled it.

Refilled the gearbox, not too much had poured out, so I´ll leave this until I´m changing the engine.

Received a used OEM EK9 cat recently, and put it on - last time I was at MoT I baaaarely got through emissions with the high-flow cat, so this will hopefully remedy this. OEM cat, high flow cat and testpipe for scale.

The old gear gaitor was real beat up, so I jumped on my first ever eBay auction and won! woohoo! A new, OEM EK9 gaitor vs the old one :

The difference is subtle, but for the trained eye there will be a slight difference.
And installed :

Next up is changing the windscreen, MoT, and then it´s time to swap engines! :)

Quick trip to the garage tonight, put some DS2500s in the front. Took the opportunity to polish the hubs and discs properly, as there was an ever so slight pulsing coming from the front right wheel on the brake dyno. Probably some crap trapped behind the disc, it´s silky smooth now. Good bite from the pads compared to OEM as well, but the pedal feel isn´t quite where I´d like it yet. Will try some braided hoses if I can find a set in the garage.

More stuff arriving today, got an uncut parcelshelf in surprisingly good condition from mkc2bad today!

And some bling. Skunk2 oil filler cap. Ready to go for the swap. :)

Faceliftswap parts have started to arrive, and a new radiator plus shroud! Spannering kicks off on tuesday, I think. :D

savage work going on here looks like you take real pride in your work and doing things right the first time fair play lad

Thanks! Not too much work going on as opposed to hoarding new parts at the moment, but that'll hopefully change tomorrow! :D

Well, engine ready to be removed! :)

14553581845_825c33b951_z.jpg

So tomorrow will hopefully see a gearbox transplant, along with some other bits that need to be moved over.

And more faceswap bits arriving, along with a new headunit.

Engine out, and transplant of a few parts underway. Annoyingly there was practically no thread in one of three bolt-holes for the timing-belt side engine mount, but I suppose it´ll hold up anyway.
