My car has been parked up for a while but i have been driving it for the past 3 days without any problems went to start it today and there was nothing. There was a clicking behind the dashboard and i have changed the started and tried jumping the car. need help asap thanks.

tried a booster for the battery still just getting the same click behind the dash. fuel pump and dash lights are working. all the earth seem ok no paint below them.

do you hear the fuel pump just before the click in your dash when your turn your key on?

Ye the starter solenoid is clicking, hasnt got enough juice to turn the flywheel though. Defo new battery

screwed battery for sure

He has already said he tried a booster pack and jump started the battery, so how is it that? Sounds like your starter is ******. If it is that bump start the car, get a couple of mates to shove you, put ignition on and put in 1st or 2nd gear, when you get a bit of speed release the clutch, it should start.

Def sounds like a dead battery to me. Unless...double check the plug and earth on your starter motor, the earth can pop off very easily on the starter

does sound like a starter motor, try hitting starter with a hammer, they can get very dusty inside and clogged up with crap.

my old b16a2 did it, i was away visiting family and had to hit the starter with a hammer each time i started it, when i got home i took it apart and blew all the black dust out of it and wiped the magnets inside as they was covered in crap and its been fine since, still using the same starter on my b20 8 years later

Been out working at it this morning got the car started by bumping it. Plenty of life in the battery all earths are good and plenty of power going to the starter. I took the starter out and connected it up and tried starting the car and there was absolutely nothing. Just same old crack from the dash and the fuse box below the bonnet. I took all the fuses out and they where all fine. Would a broken relay do this if so how do i check them?

Have you tried a different battery? I know it doesn't sound like it but its still most likely to be the problem. We had the exact same problem with our MX-5. We tried everything else including a new starter motor but it was the battery all a long. Make sure you check the amps and not just the volts when measuring the battery as the amps are far more important for cranking. It sounds like your battery may be giving the correct voltage level but not the correct amps which ties in with it being sat for a while and also explains why the interior electrics will work.

If you want to check the relay I guess you will want to check if theres power going in and then if theres power coming out of it. If not then that could be your problem. But definitely try another battery first

But if the battery is giving the right volts but not the right amps then jump starting the battery or using a booster pack won't do much. The battery will be pretty dead. I suspect this is the problem as the interior electrics and relays etc don't require many amps to work, but the starter motor does if that makes sense?

Could be your main relay. here`s instructions from the manual.

I have tried the battery in another car so think that strokes the battery out. Still having no lucky with it.

Yea u can here the fuel pump priming when I turn the key. Took the starter out and took the wee clip off. Got a set of jump leads and put them to the positive on the battery and touched the wee metal bit for the clip. When I touched it the fuel pump came on but the starter didnt crank. Should I try a different starter?
