Just thought I'd post some pics of my EK4 and talk a little bit about it and the project.
My dad bought it from one of his customers (he works at a Honda dealer) at the end of last year, with the plan to give it to me at some point. The car has only had two owners from new, though the first owner only had the car for a year according to the service book. The previous owner hadn't used the car all that much which explains the such low mileage and how clean and unmolested the car is and servicing work had been carried out at regular intervals by Grierson and Graham Honda.
The 'initial' plan was to keep the car completely stock and enjoy it as is.
First task was to strip the whole underneath of the car, thoroughly clean it, repaint and underseal, so this was carried out over the winter. It was at this point my dad decided to upgrade the suspension and brakes.
On went Eibach Sportline 30mm springs and Black Diamond vented and grooved discs along with some new pads. My dad wasn't too keen on the front springs, sitting too low for his liking so the standard springs have been put in place for now and the car has been doing a wheelie ever since!
The car not long after:
Also fitted an M Factory short shifter, EK9 style gear gaiter and Type R gearknob from a DC2 'Teg.
Also over the winter some cheeky engine mods were carried out; B18C ITR head and EK9 CTR cams, larger throttle body and a cold air intake.
The time was soon coming to hand the car over to me, and what better day to get the keys than my birthday
Since it was going to be my daily driver, to keep the fuel consumption decent the standard airbox was refitted, though I'll upgrade to a K&N drop in filter when it comes to servicing time.
An S9b gearbox and LSD was fitted but then reverted back to original.
The plan now is to gather odd JDM Genuine Honda parts (mostly from the SiR) and keep the car as is, I don't want to go about wasting such a clean, well looked after car...there can't be many EK4's like this going about!
Just clicked onto this figure a few weeks ago:
The Genuine Honda roof bars and Thule bike carrier went on the other day...beginning to look more JDM now haha!
So yesterday whilst it was bright I went out and took some piccys, this is the car as it stands now:
Since I am a student, makes sense to have the student driver/learner driver sign.
So its almost where I want it, only things left to do are the following:
Find some Spoon or TEIN 20mm front springs to balance the front out a bit;
Find an SiR front lip/chin spoiler
Give it a good service including replacing the panel filter for a K&N item and change to platinum 'plugs
Make a wind fairing for the roof rack.
Get a pair of yellow JDM fog lights
Fit wind deflectors
Finally, lets not forget, enjoy the car over summer!
My dad and I may have another project on the go soon, involving my old Jazz...its at the very early stages just now though!
