Please don't go hating on me if this is a dumb question but..

I have badly faded and oxidised paint

I have tried polishing it up with different polishes and wax (I am **** hot at detailing cars :naughty:) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=141385749376262&set=a.120330278148476.19966.100005145130207&type=3&theater
However it just goes mirror pink . I have been watching videos on you tube and came across this one about sanding the paint with 1500 grit paper then buffing it up

Part 2 Color sanding and Buffing - YouTube

My question is before I attempt it (ill try anything before I wrap/respray the car) would it make any difference??

Yea it will work just depends on how much paint is on there(dont wanna burn through) If you can get hold of any p3000 to go over your p1500 scratches. i know 3m do p3000 trizact discs i will be easier to polish.

Do a solvent test prior to see if its High Solid or a clear over base. i can imagine it is high solid from factory but if it has been in a body shop chances are some panels may be clear over base.

The red pigment in paint is susceptible to UV. I am afraid to say the only way to fix Honda pink is repaint it.

Are you applying by hand or machine?

A good cutting compound applied with machine should easily bring the colour back, and then will need refining. That is assuming that your car does not have clearcoat.

If you have clearcoat theres nothing you can do, if not you “should” be able to bring the colour back, but it will fade over time.

Both machine and hand mate. Have used meguiars cutting compound and also soe mad purple heavy cutting compound the local bodyshop use

I'm no detailing expert but I would t want to use 1500 on my paint, its very easy to get wrong and with a harsh grit like 1500 will only exaggerate any mistakes you make, perhaps try a 2500?
Do a small area first like the boot then see how it comes up?

What sort of pad are you using? Are you getting any red paint transfer onto the pad?

If there is no red paint on the pad then it has a clear coat in which case you're not going to get rid of fading.
As you said-only shiny pink

Respray is the your best option but maybe the car isn't worth that?

No red paint transfer whats so ever guys which I Know means theres clear coat but was hoping that I could sand the clear coat using 1500 grit (or any other that could lift just the clearcoat then buff like mad

I am suing the meguirs black, yellow and red pads on a dodo-juice polisher

Nope, the colour has faded underneath the clear coat.
