Price: SOLD
Location: Glasgow
Condition: Excellent
Hello everyone.
I didn’t think I’d ever write this but my EK9 is up for sale after 3 and a half years of thoroughly enjoyable ownership. The car is simply not being used as much and it’s with a heavy heart that I’m letting her go.
EK9.org was the first place I looked when I decided to buy an EK9 and it’ll also be the first place I’m advertising this outside of my personal FB profile.
The car isn't ready for viewing immediately, but in a week or so I'll bring her out of storage, carry out an oil service, detail and give the car a fresh 12 month’s MOT.
Specification:
- 2000 Type-Rx (usual extras)
- 107,xxx (mix of miles and kilometres)
- B16B
- 98 Spec DC2 Exhaust Manifold
- Custom Exhaust (looks and sound like Spoon N1)
- AEM V2 Intake (with Injen Hydroshield)
- S4C Gearbox with DC2 4.785 Final Drive
- Advan AD08R tyres (195/55/15)
- Spoon Fixed Dampers
- Spoon Progressive Springs
- Mtec blank discs (all round)
- Carbone Lorraine RC5+ pads (all round)
- Power Steering removed
- Tegiwa Brake MC Stopper
- Broadway Wide Interior Mirror
- Nsidius Shifter Extension
- Yellow Wing Mirror Glass (unknown brand)
My approach with this EK9 from the very beginning was “OEM plus”. Make a few choice modifications that’ll improve certain areas whilst retaining the EK9’s original character.
In my ownership I’ve never driven this car in winter and I avoid salt like the plague. I ensure there’s always a degree of underseal protection. Outside of spring and summer months this EK9 is stored in a purpose-built car storage facility with temperature and humidity controls in place.
As a result she’s in fantastic condition with regards to its paint and bodywork. There is zero rust and no faded paint.
The engine is its original B16B. It’s healthy and there is no excessive oil consumption or smoke. Always ran on HKS Super Racing 10w35 oil.
Gearbox is the OEM S4C but further improved with the DC2’s 4.785 final drive giving a noticeable performance gain. I also changed the clutch (OEM Honda) when I fitted this gearbox along with fresh Honda MTF. Gearbox operates as it should with no crunches etc.
When I purchased the car it was initially on Meister-R coilovers. Whilst good in its own way, I wanted a setup closer to OEM. Therefore I opted for brand new Spoon fixed dampers and progressive springs. Make no mistake, this is one of the best “fit and forget” fixed setups for an EK9. This Spoon setup has covered a mere 3,500 miles and is as good as new! Overall the suspension system is in great condition and feels tight.
I removed the entire PAS system and the rack was properly converted from power to manual steering. Lots of feel and feedback through the steering.
Brakes are OEM sized Mtec blank discs along with metal sintered Carbone Lorraine RC5+ pads all round. The overall stopping power and bite is outstanding. And you will struggle to fade them on track. I always run ATE Typ200 (Superblue) brake fluid.
Interior is in good condition with no excessive wear or marks on the Recaro seats.
All servicing is up-to-date with timing belt, valve clearances etc. not due anytime soon. I will check the paperwork for dates/mileages and update accordingly.
Being over 17-years-old there’s a few minor niggles:
- Central locking via fob not in operation. Car still locks safely and securely via key.
- Driver window moves but a little slow.
- Passenger door barrel lock is damaged. No other damage aside from the lock itself. Door still opens and locks securely.
- SRS (airbag) light on.
- Minor dent on upper rear quarter.
Good news is that none of the above niggles detract from the driving experience.
If there’s anything that I’ve missed or if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch by sending me a private message. Alternatively you’re welcome to call or text me on 0751 578 8634.
I’m confident that I’ve looked after this car and I can substantiate that I’ve spent a healthy amount keeping her in great condition over the years. I have a fair chunk of paperwork and service history to hand.
I will update this advert very soon with the most recent and with more detailed pictures.
Thanks for looking.
