Hey guys was coming back from Manchester on thursday down the A74 to caryle and im pretty sure i got zapped off a Mobile speed van, can anyone tell me the range these things have on them i was doing between 80-100mph so im kinda worried im gonna get hit with years ban if i happened to be doing more.

If anyone can tell me anything about these revenue generators that would be fantastic!

Just My Subject m8 !!!

Lol my uncle is the "top dog" of Tayside Police - Dundee, Montrose etc etc. I myself have been abit worried by this is the past so I contacted my uncle.

The mobile vans have a range of almost 2 miles m8 - however they can only process the speed of so many cars at once - its a very low number like 2 - 4. If the road was busy then its abit of a lottery bud. Also some of these mobile vans are not equiped to judge speed, they are sometimes there to check car registration, mot, tax and insurance details - When you are driving down the road, the camera picks up your registration - enters it into the onboard DVLA system and it checks everything off the plate number - if it shows you have no tax etc there is gonna be a nice little brown envelope in the post.

However m8 and im not saying it has happened, say for instance yes the camera has picked you up for speeding - there is no chance it will miss your plate - they take 16 real time images of both car and driver - lol that close they could tell what colour your eyes are !!! Plus they have too cameras, either side to take picture of front and rear of car.

The fine etc wouldnt take long to come in the door m8 and dont worry if you well over 100mph the boys in blue would of gave you a visit same day.

how can they prove it was you driving it anyways, does this "mobile van" have cameras that takes pics as well? We dont have those here in the states, i guess because we can say, I wasnt driving the car, i let my friend borrow it and then your off the hook..you know.
 
we get ass ****ed by these bastards over here in the uk all the time.

if your doing about 80 (fingers crossed mate) then i wouldnt worry..with the error on your speedo you were probably just over 70 or so. big difference between 80 and 100..id say pay more attention to your speedo ;) lol

best thing to do is make some wedges out of wood.....hammer a few nails through them...then when you see one parked up..park a little away. walk up along side where they cant see and place the wedge under a wheel.
when the bastard decides hes had enough and wants to go home ;) he aint goin anywhere fast :D

Ah yes, you see its funny you are saying that because just recently the law has changed if you do not submit the name of the driver to the DVLA then they automaticaly issue 6 penalty points to the cars owner regardless of who was driving it (12 Being the maximum points you can have before they ban you for 12 months and give you a £200-£1000 fine)

I Was definatley doing over 80mph for sure just how much over i dont know...

Its ridicolous that they can get away with this, i pay a fortune in tax, obey the law do everything her majesty asks of her dear nation yet when i break the speed limit i get a F***ing ticket and a fine to go with, this country is going to be in turmoil if the government insists on penalising drivers like they are some sort of common criminal! Justice doesnt exist in the UK!!!!
 
Never heard of The Spray?? ;) You just spray your plate with this liquid and the camera sees only a blank plate! :clap:

I must admit though, its a high price to pay on the long run to find out it doesnt work, and plus truvelos and general speed guns will get you, gatsos can only get you rear facing so there wouldnt be much call for it.
 
The spray could only work there is a flash.. If its real time capture then there is nothing you can do. Good luck mate!
 
They police are everywhere in the UK, speed vans, traffic cars, undercover cops, undercover traffic police, speed guns, gatso the list goes on and on!! :nerv: Im not some fruit-loop who speeds everywhere but its nice from time to time to get the toe in.

Does anyone know of any snooper type devices that they have tried and tested and know for sure work?

we used to have cameras here in cyprus but the cops broke the contract with the company that supplied them because they had problems storing the pictures they took! so more than 30,000 people got away without being fined!!! but i'm going to court on wednesday for doing 129km/h in a 50km/h zone (i was running late for work)!!! :nerv: in other words i'm f***ed!!! i know there's no excuse & that whatever they give me i deserve it, but who would bloody think that there would be a cop with a radar working overtime in the middle of august (holiday season in cyprus & the capital is nearly empty) at 07:30!!! :angry:
 
A think im gonna just gwt hit woth points probaly atleast 3 possibly 4, its a F***ing disgrace the way our country is run the authorities have there priorities the wrong way up, if someone steals your car they give you a number to call to be told "We will get back to you" yet they will chase you for miles to stop you from speeding on the motorway, aw yeah a forgot because they have started building play grounds on the middle of the M1 and A74...

I have to laugh, They tell you your in the wrong and im the one going to work a 45 hour week to play there bloody wages through council tax and they tell me im the criminal, i think i see whats wrong with this country
 
man that sucks over there...feel bad for you guys, if we get caught doing 40mph over the speed limit then its somewhat serious, most likely major points on the license or getting it revoked for a year or 6 months. Also they do have the spray that does work and doesn't wash off..but they also have license plate frames with a reflective film that gopes over your plate that cameras and speed radars cant pick up. BUT i was going to purchase this for my car but its a good thing i didnt, because when my car got stolen, the only way they were able to see my car was a stolen vehicle was from the cop car license plate scanner and mine popped up stolen, if i had a plastic coating over it, he would have kept on driving by. so the choice is yours, but they do work

i have to agree with you. its the same here in the states.

basically what it amounts to is cops sux ass.
 
Has any1 ever successfully bribed a cop? Stupid as that might sound I know you've all thought about it but has any1 ever actually tried it/succeed at it?

I always wondered.
 
Well thats me done, the letter came through yesterday i got caught going 101mph in a 70mph zone, im ****ED!

Yeah it sure is, im gutted but we live and learn looks like 6 points at least, Between £250-£1000 and at least a 14 day ban anywhere up to 90 days, i love britain
 
Think your looking at a lot worse than you think bud.

I got banned from driving for racing, doing 45 in a 30, undertaking all in a glasgow town center. They gave me £1000 fine and 15months ban!!! 0 Points!!

To be honest your actually lucky you got caught in england see if it was in scotland you would of easily got 6month ban!
