hi i want to get my ek9 to about 220bhp while keeping it n/a

it current spec is

cusco coilovers
cusco front and rear strut
induction kit(pipe looks like j's but the filter is red with a carbon look top, dunno the make...)
4-2-1 manifold
spoon street type exhaust
stainless decat pipe

what mods do you suggest i do
will i need: toda spec b cams,aftermarket ecu,spoon throttle body,cold air feed,port and polish...

will this be enough or will i need to stroke it?

all suggestions welcome

id rather spend the cash and get that power or as near as i can outta my b16b,im looking for ideas,as im sure the b16b is capable of making 220bhp

220bhp is 187whp, you should be able to get that out of a 1.6

First of all, where do you live? Do you have emission tests or some like that. If so forget about RACING staff , if you don't have good for you, go and knock your self. Build your ride. As I told already with TODA's B spec you will need APEXi Power FC with comander. You don't need Spoon 70mm(it doesn't have 70mm) it is Integra DC2 throtle body just borred in angle. Try "Proffesional Products" 68mm. Cheaper.
Something else? search "FORUM":nice:

why do u wanna keep it n/a? I dont know the difficulties of turbo charging or super charging a high compression engine but it cant be easy???

listen to this guy if you wanna go fast, as long as you have stand alone ems, a good tuner and access to 94+ octane gasoline you should be fine. oh yeah and dont exceed 10psi on a midframe turbo.

p.s. jewel/theone if your going to say my motor blew up again i just want to let you know i was reviewing my data logs the other day and i found a 16psi boost spike, im pretty sure thats what killed it  we had set the boost to 9.5psi at 8000rpm but at the track i took it up to 9200rpm and the boost spiked... oh well live and learn, i still have plenty of friends with turbo honda's theve been driving for years...

buy a dc5
seen an ek9 from jdm land with a 2.0 ltr bottom end not sure how much power it had but it was quick

i tell you what some of you guys have way too much money to spend , i take it you dont have wifes and a morgage

It's very hard to make 220 with a 1.6L...and even if you do, engine rebuilds are very often... 200-205hp is more realistic for a 1.6L. You'll need a 1.8 stroker kit which will instantly give you 15-20hp then add cams which is what is going on in other threads.

Torque is what gives you acceleration, turbo will give you an overkill amount for a FWD, so best is to stroke it to 1.8 or 2.0... then take someone for a ride and scare the S*** out of them... :D

Blinx: That motor aint no fully built motor... it's a friggin full on RACE MOTOR! LOL Must've cost around 15k-20k to build that. :wow:

hahaha no i meant the guy who started the thread wont see any benefits unless its a fully built motor :nice: and still unless its a race car i dont like ITB's a properly designed custom intake manifold can make more power. or if the itb's have a custom plenum built to the motors spec.

agreed :nice: ITB's sucking hot air is like taking one step up and one step down.

i seem to remember that ronalds from b factory ek9 had 197whp but that may have had a super charger and had well over £20k spent on it

surely the cheapest way to do would stick a 20k lump in it its been done in a dc2

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO GO FAST. BUY THIS KIT. ENJOY

I Know u guy's dont like ITB's but i have built sevral none jap engines using ITB's and i have seen really good gain's! yes it would be the last thing to do to the engine but with a good spec engine ITB'S are the way forward for me:D

i am planing on a full build on mine next year using toda ITB's.

When I saw Toda's ITBs, I was drooling for them lol but found out that so much work and $$$ is involved. ITBs always gives you gains but without a well made plenum I don't see the point. Without a plenum, on a dyno where the bonnet is opened, you'll see gains but on the road with the bonnet closed, is a different story.

All highly tuned engines like BMW M, ferrari, audi, nissan GTR etc etc all use ITB with factory plenum ofcourse.
