242/262 to 262/282 upgrade, worth it for short term?

Guys,

The car has an EK4 VTI brake setup, 4X100 and 242mm rear and 262 fronts. New calipers all round, new EBC heat treated discs, new yellow's on rear.

Is it worth upgrading to EK9/DC2 calipers all round and running 262mm rear and 282mm front? Id need new calipers, discs and pads.

Is the difference a lot? Considering over the winter this year i will be upgrading to 300mm Willwood Superlites.

I was just about to order RC6 front pads, there £50 more for an EK4 over a DC2!

Not sure if i should go through all the bother to do the upgrade now, just to strip of the front later setup in October, its not like i am disappointed with the stopping power.

Cheers
Jay

I kill brakes...like a boss.
262mm setup survived a dry day at Cadwell park! Its not the worst braking track, but still...
For road use nothing is needed over stock unless you want to look pretty.
Good fluid and pads is a given.

I would just stick with the standard setup until you get tge willwoods:)

I wouldn't bother mate, sounds like you've got a solid set up right now. More so if you're fitting Willwood's this winter.

I guess it really comes down to how much money you have. I've just got project Mu pads on mine and it stops on a dime.

Having went from a ek4 to a ek9 id say the front upgrade is definetly worth doing. The pedal feel is far better its wprks pretty much soon as you press the pedal. Also the overall stopping power is noticeably better.

If your going to do it u need the 1" master cylinder or you may aswell not bother at all :nice:

willwood set up will obviously be better however but twice the price...

Fitting a high COF pad will do that to any brake setup.

The difference technically between 282mm and 262mm setups is not massive. A bit of heat sinking, a bit of pad area. - Neither of which equate to faster stopping.

I have a full 282/260mm setup on my garage floor and decided against fitting it. (the effort is trivial - its not lazyness).

Cheers guys, I had a chat with my mate and we have decided not to do the upgrade and just add new front pads which need doing anyway. Will enjoy the car as it is this year, we have 1" master cylinder and bias adjuster. Will upgrade rears to 262 when adding willwoods over the winter at the same time as Kswap.

I would Just get good pads and leave it till the proper upgrade .

Also instead of starting a new thread .... Is upgrading to a 1' master cylinder a good upgrade if stayin standard sir 262 ?

Front bias dude. Front 282s on an EK4 are not good!
